Right now is the year of the PC. Titles out the wazoo.
Just because a title is not exclusive doesn't not mean that it is poorly done. Look at Gears of War, World in Conflict, The Orange Box, Call of Duty 4. We're still getting a number of great RTSes as well, like SupCom:FA, Universe at War.
Don't miss these couple months, amazing titles for the PC.
depends on what your after, but the grass is always greener on the other side untill you get there :).
Plenty of really good PC games out this year and next
World in conflict
Orange Box
COD4
Gears of War
Witcher
Company of Heros Opposing Force
Overlord
Crysis
Hellgate London
Next Year and beyond just check out the 08 sticky on this forum
dont forget where also getting Assisins Creed in Feb.....
Have not seen any good PC exclusive titles in a while. Besides Crysis which not many people can play. But the Consoles are getting GTA 4 and many other games in '08 but what about PC:(.I hope '09 is year of the PC.:)DarxPhil
Games exclusivley for PC in 2008:
Starcraft 2
Spore
Dawn of War: Soulstorm
Dragon Age
Guild Wars 2
Warhammer Online
Far Cry 2
Empire: Total War
Plus multiplatform games
Personally, I don't see a lack of good PC games in 2008...
I think almost 20 games came out for the PC since this October. How is that not a good year for PC gaming? It's like it's raining games. People don't know what to buy because there are so many!BlackAlpha666
Srsly theres crysis, witcher, orange box, gears of war, call of duty 4, hellgate london, quake wars, ut3 around the corner, etc Not to mention the lesser hyped games like mask of the betrayer, solder of fortune 4 etc I rly can't see any reason to be the least bit depressed lol
[QUOTE="Roris0A"]Check out the 08 thread sticked at the top =) Also many people can play Crysis just not at the max settings. The whole experience is still there.samw3dgt
No. No, it isn't.
Sorry you feel that way =/ The gameplay raises the bar just as much as the graphics do.
[QUOTE="teirdome"][QUOTE="cobrax75"]Spore...
Xelioth1
Spore is coming out on the Wii as well as the DS supposedly. We'll see.
yes, because that's not going to suck at all...ds version is just 1st level of 5/6 levels of pc one, and i think wii would also contain few levels only
I agree with many people here.
Even though PC users don't get great game like GTA IV
There are still many awesome games come out at the end of this year
And there will be more in 2008.
Even the numbers is big, I don't know which game should I buy
Even though PC users don't get great game like GTA IVslyde_jinx
I think every GTA game except Liberty City Stories has come out on the PC. I see no reason why GTA IV won't be on the PC. Has there been some update where the people behind the game said there will never be a PC version?
I say yes purely for 1 reason. Mass Effect is a 360 exclusive and Bioware won't commit to porting it to the PC. That is a slap in the face to PC gamers IMO since PC is what put Bioware on the map. Hopefully when/if they do port it they will do a better job than they did with Jade Empires.
And damn could we ever use a good story driven RPG on the PC right about now.
I agree, this is a great time for games! Like said before, though lots are multiplatform, it does not make a game worse. PC gaming has a huge online community, and we get patches a heck of a lot faster then consoles. Not to mention, we get mods too.
Alot of the good games that have been released recently ARE multiplatform. Maybe your forgetting they are for PC? Assassins Creed is only out for consoles now, but it'll be out for PC in Feb. Yeah delays suck, but we are still getting a version ultimately. Even Halo 3 and GTA IV, I'll be money with people, are gonna be released for PC eventually. More and more companies are selling out to "multiplatform" gaming.
PS3 definitly doesn;'t have more exclusives then PC?I don't think anyway.. and the xbox may have some more exclusives currently? I'm not sure, but even if they do, since xbox and PC are microsoft, they all make it to PC later.
Also for the record, I think World in Conflict for Xbox went TBA recently? A strategy game on a console just seem out of place in my opinion.
Don't worry mate, PC is doing good, and definitly as good as the other guys. Right now its likely on top too. :)

First, asking for "exclusive" is not only virtually impossible, but un needed exceptfor braggin. A good PC game is good, period, why do you care if it is on the 360? MS designed their architecture on purpose to have easy ports, and if anything, we are seeing better pc games this year (3 9.5's this year, when did that last happen?) because of this!! Only the Orange box made it to consoles too.
GTA, sad for those who didnt get bored halfway through Vice City or GTA 3. *raises hand* give me deep online open ended games, MMORPG (even free ones).
07 is a great pc year, and it is only going to get better!
i'd rather get one copy of crysis than all the exclusive console games combined.fireandcloud
lol, no one is really daft enough to want to do that.

If PC owners continue to stick with their deep open ended online mmorpg's then PC gaming will only ever consist of a few deep open ended online mmorpgs. As I prefer shorter games with a good story to play though I will stick with my consoles, online is always the same old CTF deathmatch stuff so that is not important but a nice co-op mode is always welcome.

With all the great games that have come out in the past few months you should be taken out and beaten for even starting this thread.
Off the top of my head, PC exclusives from 07...
FPS:
RTS:
RPG:
I'm sure there are games I missed, and there are more coming out before the end of the year but there is definitely an abundance of quality pc exclusives in 07, with more coming in 08. Infact the only console exclusive that I wish I could have atm is Mass Effect. This year has been great for PC gaming in general, one of the best in recent memory especially for FPS and RTS fans. My only complaint is that RPGs have been rather ho-hum this year, but there are plenty of quality ****cs out there that can be had for 20 bucks. If only Bioware would port Mass Effect and get back to developing some more PC exclusives or at least PC ports that come out the same time as their console cousins...
So to answer your question, no, consoles do not have better exclusives.
well, one of the best ever CRPG came out this year, and I know for sure that it will not be avalible to consoles. Also, FPS and RTS are PC native to begin with, that is, play bestwith keyboard and mouserather than console "sticks".
well, as for Mass Effect...if it shows up eventually just like Jade Empire and Fable, I'll play it then; if not, I won't care that much, since there are somany PC games to play around, especially when I'll dip back into Planescape: torment, Baldur'sGate seriesalikefrom time to time.
What about the hardware to? They just relesed the 2900XT only a while ago:roll: and now the 3670 or whatever is coming out. Its like they always try and ''1up'' them self every couple of weeks.DarxPhil
Yeah, but all industries do this. Slightly better, more expensive versions of things are constantly coming out - it's the only way to keep us consuming.
And in the same way that you don't drop fifteen grand on a car every couple years (unless you're rich, stupid or some happy medium) you shouldn't be buying new PC parts all the time. I built my current PC in 2005. It's nearly 2008 and all i've done is swapped out my 7800 for an 8800 (which was recycled into my backup pc - waste not, want not!) and an extra gig of ram. I don't see myself needing a new CPU until early 09 and a new GPU until mid-late 09. So what if nvidia brings out a slightly more powerful card. So what if DX10.1 is slightly shinier. I don't need it. Just like I don't need that new car or those new sunglasses or those new jeans.
It's very easy to spenda relatively small amount of cash and still get a pretty high end experience out of your PC, you just have to be smart and selective, and show a little restraint.
As for games, meh. The PC has an enormous library of awesome games and that catalogue is just getting better every year. Consoles have some great games - but there's so many exclusives here or there that you really need all three machines if you're going to get a serious console experience. Talk about expensive. I keep thinking I should buy a PS3 for MGS4. But a 360 for Mass Effect. And a Wii for Mario Galaxy. But when I actually look at this or that console, I see 2-4 games on each machine that I actually want. Two to four games. For an entire machine. Really, not worth the expense.
As for GTA4 - there is absolutely nothing to suggest it won't come out on PC - no announcement? San Andreas wasn't even announced for PC until after it was on the console shelves. Rockstar knows what it's doing - it's getting all the fervent GTA fans to buy console copies then going PUNK'D, we are also releasing a PC version in a few months, which you will buy because it is bigger and better and you can use a keyboard and mouse. But thanks for buying that console version too. We appreciate your custom. Feel free to do it again with GTA5 (sucker).
I dont see how anyone who mildly follows video games can say its been a slow year for PC
This is what the awards will be:
Best Shooter: Crysis (Halo 3 will get 2nd)
Best Strategy: World in Conflict (Supreme Commander and C&C 3 will be runners up)
Best Roleplaying Game: The Witcher or Mass Effect, problably the latter since its hyped
And thats only the best of what we got...theres about 20 more games that are all awesome.
2008 will only get better. Cant wait for Sins of a Solar Empire and Spore! Oh, and Episode 3 (crosses fingers).
Seriously, the amount of quality PC-games lately has been insane. Jeez, I never thought I would see this kind of thread on PC-forums this month.
Kinda glad I have a 360 though. I guess I will be one of the "suckers" (like mfsa nicely put it) to enjoy those games several months before they are released on PC. Yes, poor, sucky me.

HAHA
360 owners are anything but suckers. Everything has its place in this world. Hell, if I got 500 bucks tomarow and had to spend it in 20 minutes, I'd get a 360 (and Dance Dance Revolution!).
PC keeps me happy tho.

Not my words, man! Rockatar's!
I was just saying, their entire release plan is based around making people think the game isn't coming to PC, so they buy console versions, then going oh hey by the way, the bigger, better pc version is out soon which most people buy, because it's bigger and better.
What about the hardware to? They just relesed the 2900XT only a while ago:roll: and now the 3670 or whatever is coming out. Its like they always try and ''1up'' them self every couple of weeks.DarxPhil
Seems to me like your're just trolling now. After all the games we just spoke that should convince any sane person that this is pretty much one of the best years for pc gaming yet. And now your talking about the large influx of cards were're bombarded with one after the other? Sigh every pc gamer knows about that and I personally don't like it. But thats why I research heavily and ask advice from other pc gamers before I plop down $300 for a new graphics card and determine how future proof it'll be. And thats why console gaming is more popular than pc gaming, it takes much less responsibility.;)

This is the exact same thing keeping me from buying a 360. I would trade any PC game out this year except for the Orange Box for Mass Effect, but despite this it is not enough to justify me spending 400 dollars on a console when I only want to play 3 games (Mass Effect and its two sequals). Mass Effect IMO is the only thing consoles have over PC's atm.
I guess I can rest slightly easier knowing Bioware is probably already working on a PC version of Mass Effect. That and the fact that I probably couldn't even play it on the 360 seeing as I have about as much skill with a console controller as a lobotomized rhesus monkey.

Well, I could argue and say that GTA-series sell a buttload more copies for consoles than PC, but I have no link or anything, so I could be wrong. So I do not know about "most people buy PC-version". And last time I checked the gameworld is pretty identical on all the platforms. So bigger might not be the right word. Better is probably true though, better visuals, better drawdistance, controls suited to your likes (KB+ mouse or 360 controller). Maybe even mods. Still, the gameplay is pretty much the same.
I understand that you want to wait, but people that have a 360 and a desire to play ME or GTA soon are not suckers. San Andreas came out oct 04, while PC gamers had to wait 'til June the year after, that's a serious amount of months to wait for one of my favourite franchises.
If you see how much time Bioware used to port Jade Empire (almost two freaking years!!!), it's pretty obvious that if you want to play Mass Effect in the near future, you should get a 360. They could (and imo should) announce a PC-version a couple of months after the console game is out, but I'm not taking any chances.
BTW, sorry for the sarcasm in my previous post, I just do not like to be called a sucker.

I did regret using a lot of money on PC-equipment last month instead of a new TV, but, man, it was worth it! With all the games out, I could not have timed it better. Screw 8900 GTX or whatever is on the horizon, I want to play great PC-games now, not wait until a better card is out (my card easily maxes all games out now, except Crysis and Gothic 3). Where's the fun in that?

I heard Gothic 3 optimization blows, is that right?
