I have a 360 Controller and want to hook it up to work with my Laptop. It works fine with Far Cry 2 when I just plug it in. But, I recently got COD 5 and the controller doesnt work. I tried Xpadder but it sucks. Do any controllers work with the "Games for Windows" and if so how. The best I could find at the moment is Pinnacle.

Well, supposedly all "Games For Windows" work fine with the 360 gamepad. Other gamepads it's hit or miss.

Do you have the drivers installed?

At least for XP you should download the drivers for 360 gamepad from M$ website.

i have vista and went to www.microsoft.com/hardware/download.aspx?category=Gaming and plugged in controller, 360 (not wireless) and downloaded the software. I plug in the controller and the computer reads it. Am i supposed to do something now to get the game to read the controller.

Go to options and switch the keyboard+mouse to gamepad on controllers.

Well if theyre's no option to switch the controller input then for the moment all you can use on WaW is a keyboard/mouse config. Maybe they'll plan on putting out an update or patch that will allow a controller to be used. But yeah what was mentioned above is all correct. I bought a 360 controller a few weeks ago and didn't have to download any drivers for it to work, just plug and play. If you downloaded drivers from windows update then make sure to restart your computer without the controller pluged in. For some reason when I restarted windows wouldn't see it again until I unpluged and repluged it in.
