my gf and i are thinking of getting some racing games on our pc's, but we dont want a wheel, because it would just be too much of a headache setting up each time.

so i need some recommendations for a controller that would be good on pc for racing.

we already have a wired 360 controller, but the triggers (the pressure sensitive ones) dont seem to work with any games. are there any usb pc controllers that this works on?

thx in advance

You must have the wrong drivers because the triggers should(and do when properly configured)work fine. And IMO the 360 controller is the best controller in existence. For any game or platform.

sweet, yeah id agree as far as controllers go, (360 is the best) so there is a way for me to get the pressure sensitive sticks to work with my wired 360 controller? just download newest drivers?

if so thanks alot man, even if not thanks anyway.

I personally enjoy the PS2/3 style Controllers when I'm playing racing games etc . . on PC. I got mine from Wal-Mart a while back, paid around $30.00 for it. Has force feedback and works fine. It's an off brand, I havnt used it since Test Drive Unlimited - but it was a gooden !

The X360 gamepad is probably your best bet for more simplistic racing games if you really can't justify a wheel...unless the titles in question only take DirectInput. Then it sucks because the triggers are a combined axis in DirectInput, with no way to turn them into split axes for differential gas/brake with Microsoft's default drivers. You could install the XBCD drivers instead for better DirectInput support, but then you need to use an XInput emulator to get specific X360 pad support back, and even then, you probably won't have rumble in XInput titles. (As for gamepads in general, though, the X360 pad is very good, but sucks hard when you need a good D-Pad or an A/B/C/X/Y/Z six-face-button layout, often both at the same time.)

Just make sure that if you do use the XBCD drivers, download one of those XInput emulator utilities so you get specific X360 pad support back.

THX ALL, i downloaded burnout paradise lastnight from EA (they sent me a birthday discount 25% off from their EA store) so i jumped on it.

the controller seems to be working wonderfully (though i dont know how, lol i had trouble with all the xbcd installations and everything, and the regular 360 controller drivers, had to redownload them from microsoft,) i didnt even calibrate and burnout paradise lets me do it in the options menu (even the pressure sensitive triggers work great for gas and brake)

i think its the only racing game ill have on this pc for a while anyway so i should be good.

so thanks anyways guys.
