what would be the best cpu coolers for the price for an i7-2600k? The computer will be used for gaming, 2d and 3d design, and video editing and rendering.

Best? Liquid helium. Reasonable? I like the thermalright ultra 120 extreme on mine. 2 fans on it, runs cool and at a stable 4.4 ghz... and if you have an old i7 2600k they can do 4.4 ghz on the stock cooler.

Will you be overclocking? The stock cooler works fine at stock clocks.

I use the corsair h100 with my i7 2600k @4.5ghz 1.25volts I idle around 33-35 and I just logged into battlefield bc2 and did not go above 55c the avg was around 50c. Mine cost like 119 from Tiger Direct through Amazon. Here is a pic of the setup, I did go ahead and get different fans.

unless you are doing some extreme overclocking you shouldnt pay more than $50 on a heatsink. and if you aren't overclocking then don't bother. on the upside they look pretty cool.

i would reccomend a zalman, coolermaster or thermaltake. check some reviews on newegg and make sure you know the size because some wont fit in smallish cases.

It was sexy until I noticed the particular model of GTX 580 he's using. That "Black Ops" badging is turrrrible.

Very nice rig though!

Yeah well its the one I went with at the time newegg was out of regular superclocked edition cards and I don't care about black ops either or cod for that matter.

Both of those would work good also they both get relatively low temps too.

I have the h80 as the h100 would not fit in my case and it works very well!

i guess h50 will be enough and will be more cost effective then? What is the differences (estimate) in temperature between those coolers mentioned?
