[QUOTE="entropyecho"]Does Artic Silver 5 thermal compound work or is it a gimmick?Gamerkat
It definitely works, however, the new mx-2 is much better. It can last for 8 years if applied once.
What's Silver 5's rated life (I used it, so I want to know when I might need to do maintenance)?Has anyone had any issue with the cpu heatsinks or fans if their memory also has heatsinks? I was warned that some coolers would block the memory slots and could be problematic if your memory has heatsinks (like OCZ Reapers). Any thoughts?entropyecho

If the DIMM slots are too close to the CPU bracket and/or the cooler extends too far over the bracket mounts, then there might be an issue. Some mobos are better for this job than others. Don't forget, though, that LGA755 cooling brackets are square, so heatsinks can be turned 90 degrees if it provides for a better fit or better aerodynamics.
