Hi all,

Anybody have this keyboard? I am thinking of changing my keyboard to the Corsair Vengeance K90. It has a really nice finish and sense of quality to it. It has raised keys for ease of cleaning with aluminium underneath. The major keys are mechanical but the less used ones are not. This isn't a huge issue for me but it would have been nice to have full mechanical keys. Its a little pricey but I like the quality finish of it and it would compliment my case and monitors and look nice on my desk! :P

I like the way the macro keys are lowered compared to the other keys. I have macro keys on my current keyboard but I keep pressing them instead of ESC and CTRL etc.

It has some good reviews

The positives:

  • Stylish
  • Quality finish
  • Backlit
  • Programmable keys
  • Mechanical keys
  • Handy volume control

The downsides:

  • A bit pricey
  • Not all keys are mechanical (not a biggy)

Here is a detailed review I found on YouTube.
(I only watch the first 10mins)

So any thoughts? I am a casual gamer but I do like to have quality hardware.

I have it's little brother, the k60. It's the same, but without backlit keys and the macro buttons, while have neat red, rubberized keys that come as spares for wasd, and 123456, keys. The feel is great, and the aluminum really looks great too. You can take out the keys and really deep clean it as well, while a can of air can blow out any dust from the keys with ease. I'm going to be gettings the k90 for myself or my wife, depending on which I like more. The rubber keys are great for fps/any game that uses wasd, but I like the idea of backlighting. If you want the k90, go for it. But perhaps the k60 would be better? It is cheaper, and the rubber keys are great. However, it doesn't have a full wrist rest (It comes with an uncomfortable partial wristrest for your left hand), backlighting, or macros. Both of them are great quality and have great features. The volume wheel on both is fantastic for controlling sounds.

I just got the Corsair K60 last week ($80 after rebate from newegg).

It is very well made, with a thick braided USB cord and all the media controls work flawlessly with Winamp. The volume roller knob is FAR better than other KB's I've used that only have a up & down button. No drivers to worry about either. 1000mhz usb polling is great as well. The Function keys (F1-12 & Pg Up/Dn etc) are rubber dome & not mechanical but that is not a huge concern as they get the least use of all the keys. The red rubberized keys are great as well. I use a setup different from WASD but they still work just fine. (who cares if the keys are mislabled, I know what does what) I bought this to replace a Razer Arctosa that I was unhappy with. Very easy to keep clean as well.

i would say just go with the k60, because you dont need backlit keys anyway and you save a nice amount. i could personally recommend the coolermaster quickfire rapid. i love this keyboard, its small yet heavy(you could use this thing as a melee weapon) great keys and cherry blues for a great tactile feel. no 10-key or audio/usb jacks but cheap ($60), just as another option

Hey thanks for your input. I didn't realise the keys were rubberised. That sounds great. How is it for typing on? I was looking at the K60 too but I didn't like the left wrist rest. It looks awkward! I presume it is detachable?

i tried out a k60, which is basically the same board, and didn't really care for it. i thought maybe mechanical just wasn't for me but a while back i picked up a quickfire rapid red and i'm loving it... had to switch out those ugly stock key caps though. i will never use a non mechanical board again. in fact, when my mom came to visit early this month i pulled out my old keyboard because the key caps i have on this don't have print on them and she couldn't use it, and the thing just feels like trash to me now... i used to love that keyboard, it wasn't a cheapo one either, cost over 100 dollars about 2-3 years ago. couldn't really pinpoint what about the k60 wasn't doing it for me though.

I've been eying the K90 for some time now. I really want it but I'm a little hesitant about how easy it is to mistype.

Whay is the key (pardon the pun) difference you have felt since switching to a mechanical keyboard? How is the typing?

The K60 is a good piece of kit. The wrist rest is the only downside, but since I've never used them anyway, it's not a big loss. If you use a lot of macros, the K90 would be a better choice but really I don't see how you could go wrong with the K60.

although the left hand wrist rest for the k60 is relatively cheapish, it works well for FPS (which I primarily play)

I have the k90, its a really nice keyboard. The backlighting is very bright and is useful if you like to play in the dark. The spacing and raised keys take a bit of getting used to though. I haven't used the macro keys yet since I haven't thought of a good use for them but the volume wheel is good.

Yeah, the k60 wrist rest sucks. I just bought a comfortable, full size, wrist rest and it works much better.

No, but the its really easy to press the keys, and I tend to prefer my keyswitches to require a little more force. That said I really want this keyboard.
