Just as an example, I did not go to bed yesterday and stayed up till the mourning in which I had to go to the gym for alittle. Its something very weird that I think may be because of PC gaming because when I'm not out or working or school I'm playing a PC game. I guess it makes me ancy in a way or always has my anticipation high to where I dont sleep as much as I normally would if a person knew they didn't have anything to do tomorrow.

Its just a strange things thats been happening to me during the winter break. Am I the only one? I mean I honestly dont believe anything else makes me not sleep as much.

You might want to try asking a doctor.

Hi, FerraraZ23.

I'm afraid you're partially right. That kind of problems can be caused by other circumstances, but very constant PC gaming causes that too. Moreover, everybody is different so there are people that can "bear" PC gaming better, and others could suffer some weird things.

I guess this is due to the absorbing mind activity, and you develog a routine... and anxiety. Add some "brain stories" stuff and you have that.

Do trial and error by gaming and not gaming for a while, and see how you react to that.

Good grief! This seems a medical consultation! ;)

I stay up all night sometimes when I didnt mean to. But that happens because my friends want to play a game, so I stay up with them and before I know it, its like 5am. By that time I'm not sleepy anymore.

A main factor as to why you stay up late while staring at your PC screen is because its built into your genes to go to sleep when it is dark out, the monitor practically simulates daylight, tricking your body into thinking that you should actually remain awake

I too have some terrible insomnia thanks to gaming, just a few weeks ago I stayed up for about 79 hours, paranoia and hallucinations set in, I somehow began believing that I would die if i actually went to sleep, that my breathing would stop, lol, and I began seeing things on the ceiling

O_O You should see a doctor, man. If something hurts you, just leave it for a while or learn how to dose it.

Take care, really.

when i just got my copy of the witcher at one night i woke up at 3 a.m. thinking about the game and couldn't sleep back. i am an insomniac too. before june 2007 the time i usually wake up is at 5 a.m. but on june 2007 until now i woke up everyday at 3-4a.m. and can't sleep back. i normally sleep at 9 p.m. it's still not enough because i need 7-8 hours of sleep. i've grown used to waking up very early though.

Ah, yes.... The can't-sleep-must-play syndrome. It's a beautiful thing. Usually happens to people new to games, or when an extraordinary, mind-numbing, unbelievably awesome game comes out. I haven't had the pleasure of experiencing it in years... enjoy it while it lasts.

Meh, for me it goes hey that game looks interesting -> research -> buy -> spend every minute of free time playing for 3-5 days -> lose interest -> boredom. Repeat. The last game that captivated me for more than a few days was the Witcher, and Jade Empire before that. Those games lasted for about 7-10 days. Every game I pick up now days feels like "been there, done that" within a few hours/days. There's just nothing new and exciting in gaming now days =/

Ah I remember the days of MOHAA/Diablo 2/SC/NWN1, when I first started playing online... Man, those were the days where I could really say I'm addicted to gaming. It all just went down hill from there, with the exception of a few titles like Nox, Guild Wars, and some others. Eh well, new semester's about to start soon so it's not like I'm going to have a minute of spare time anyway for the next 4 months....

whats ancy?

He means antsy.

If you're staying up late because you want to game, then PC gaming is responsible, but there may be some underlying issues. That said, I don't believe it's insomnia. I've suffered from insomnia, and it's very horrible - it's a lot more than just not sleeping because there's something else you want to do.

But here is my question - if you're only doing it when you don't have much to do tomorrow, who cares? How old are you? I never really got into the whole bed at 11 up at7, meals at 8, 12, 6 and 9 thing my parents tried to thrust on me. I eat when I'm hungry and sleep when I'm tired. If it's 3am and I want to game instead of sleep, I go ahead and game. If you don't have any reason to get up in the morning, go for it.

Live the life you want, not some regimental existence thrust upon you by others. It's only when you're skipping sleep when you need to be awake early the next day, or when you're actually unable to sleep that you have a problem.
