Although Counter-Strike 1.6 and Source are fundamentaly the same game, many players prefer one over the other. For this reason, I decided to create video series to compare the two, check it out:

I see absolutely nothing wrong with his statement. He's right, fundamentally, they are pretty much identical.

Just watched the videos, and it's very informative for anyone who was wondering what some of the main differences between the two games are. My personal opinion is that Valve has made CS: Source the better game, although I still enjoy a little 1.6 now and then.

If they were, we wouldn't be having this topic (and countless others over the years).

Jonathan, this is great stuff bud. For fans of CS this probably won't be really handy, but for newcomers I recommend.

Fundamentals are the basics. The basics of each game are the same. What's different go beyond the fundamentals - such as physics, recoil patterns, hit boxes, etc. - all minor things. In the end it's still the same maps, same concept, same guns, etc.

This. I love CS both 1.6 and Source. Play almost everyday, but they're different games.

1.6 feels more spray friendly to me and you walk around 'faster'.

Source feels like it has recoil you actually have to consider and compensate for. The way you walk also felt like 'monkey walk'(slow, clunky) to me when I first made the transition between both games.

Edit: these are among other differences, just a few examples.

Either way they're both good games I recommend both.
