alright i've tried everything so i figured id make a post and see if anyone could help me. I play cs:s daily and i was watching this montage video the other day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5yw9LpPVGU . i saw there was links to config files to download, so i figured id download one and try it out and see what settings/config real pros use and it would be easy to return to my settings before after. wrong. i downloaded the autoexec.cfg and put it in my steamapps > name > css > cstrike > cfg. started the game and the settup was horrible, it was for low end pcs i guess, horrible graphics, not in the right resoulution adn the game now had a netgraph right in the middle of the screen. ok no big deal, ill just go erase the autoexec file and be back to normal. nope. i also tried deleted my config file and letting it reload, still nothing. so i figure ok ill just reinstall the game doesnt take that long deleted all my cs folders, did windows uninstall, steam uninstall, reinstall, download updates, load game graphics are better, but the netgraph is still in the middle of the screen and everytime i joina server if i look in console it is trying to load a ton of commands. in the console it says something about my config directory being css > platorm > config, but ive deleted all the files in there and let them reload to. and i don't want to just get the netgraph out of the way, i want to stop the game from trying to load/loading all kinds of settings i dont want without me even knowing what its changing, i just want the game to be back to defualt.

help? anyone? i hate not being able to play my fav game :(

Steam keeps your settings even if you delete/reinstall the game, its supposed to be for convinience

Can you list what exactly your problems are now that you've reinstalled?

To turn off netgraph, just do "net_graph 0" in console, that will make it go away.

As for the rest, just go into options and configure your visual settings etc. Make sure your Autoexec file is empty

I have this problem too, except with team fortress 2, i had to use a performance config while my card was dead and now i managed to get rid of most of the stuff but it still leaves remnats like messed up water and no blood splatter and shadows limited to medium. And i have tried everything.

Delete your Counter Strike Source folder (And Team Fortress 2 folder with the other guy) This will not delete the game. However you will have to wait 20 seconds or so next time you start the game up.

You sure u deleted everything? Uninstall source via steam and then go delete the folder then MAKE SURE you log off steam and reboot. After the reboot open your steam folder and start up steam again. Make sure nothing new appears all of the sudden. Then re download source.
