On idle my core temp is 34-36 degrees. When I play a game for 1 hr. it registers 58-60. What I don't understand is when I get out of the game and the comp sits for a couple hrs. it will still show 58-60 I don't run anything in background that is not necessary. This is a brand new comp. So far I have left the stock HSF on it. [ not good?] The only way I get the temp down to 34-36 is shut down for 20 min. This isn't right is it? What does this sound like to you?

Use CoreTemp to measure your cpu temps and I would recommend you get an aftermarket HSF.

I ran the Prime 95 "touture test" and passed all tests with a high core reading of 64 degrees, although right now my temp is 58 degrees. Not right! Don't you think it has to be my HSF. Going to go out tomorrow and get a Zalman.

---thanks

Does your case have proper ventilation? If not then that is the reason for your high temps afterward along with your stock HSF.

Make sure that they are properly configured. You may have a dead air spot in your case. I think if you take off the side of your case and notice a pretty big drop in temp, that means your intake/exhaust system is a little screwed.

Taking the side panel off only gave me about a 3-4 degree drop.

Your main problem is your case, your cpu doesnt have a direct flow of freshair. Make sure that the side fan on your case is blowing air inside the case and you have at least 2-3 inches of free room to breath.

This was after putting under load for a bit? I want to see if that hot air is getting trapped in there once your temps rise, not so much at idle temps.

Another possibility is the thermal paste for your cpu isnt bonded properly. Im not too experienced in that area, but im sure someone else here is.
