hello

i am wondering if any of you guys know of any programs that can monitor my cpu and gpu to find out which on is slowing my game down. i currently use fraps to chekc frps and use fan speed to monitor temp and cpu usage but fan speed doesnt record cpu useage so when i check on it it drops because iv left the game.

i am currently playing supreme commander fordged alliences but as soon as there is any realy fighting my frps drops. im playing with the graphics on medium low and aa turned off. i know its a machine killer of a game but just wondering if there was any one component that would be up graded to improve this.

this is my current set up if it helps:

amd athlon 64 x2 dual 5600+, 2.8ghz, 2gb of ram and a radeon hd 3870 all on a 24" monitor

if any one knows of any programs or can point out why it is slowing it would be a great help

thanks in advance

Might be something to do with the resolution it's running at. Nothing in your set up looks particularly weak, maybe your hard drive isn't fast enough.

It's your GPU

If your running at the native 24" resolution (1920x1200) the single 3870 won't cut it. That game, even being quite old is demanding, the CPU should be ok, but the GPU is deffo the bottleneck there.
