Cpu help please !!!

hey guys my current cpu is
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
and my motherboard is GIGABYTE GA-M56S-S3

i wanted to upgrade my cpu, however my mobo can't handle more than 100w here's the list of supported cpu

according to the list i can handle up to phenom 955 95w, but apparently its only on sale in japan, i currently have my eyes on the Phenom II X4 945 95w and the Athlon II X4 640
the 945 is usually $50 more than the 640 here in Australia ($AU about the same as $US)

i use my comp mainly for gaming, especially cpu intensive games like arma2 or total war
so should i spend $50 more on getting the 945 or should i go with the 640???

If you can't find a 955 in Australia, you haven't even looked anywhere. Every PC shop sells the 955, a couple of the top of my head are; MSY, CPL, Landmark Computers, and Scorptec.

I know those definetly sell the 955.

I dont think there is a 95watt 955, thats why I used 945. Well the 945 has a L3 cache, and its a Phenom, it might be OC a bit higher.

because according to some chart, athlon 640 is only a few fps (5 most) behind phemom 945

i was wondeing if its worth $50 more

i don't plan on overclocking, so is having L3 cache and Phenom brand gonna make a big difference in terms of performance? (i have no idea what L3 is)

so which one seems like better deal, phenom 945 can usually be found at $150 whereas athlon 640 can usually be found at $100

If your not OC'ing then the Phenom might be a better choice, the Athlon is good, but it needs to be OC'ed to match the Phenom.
