I am trying to overclock my E6750 on a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R mobo. I can manage to get it up to 3.2GHz stably (400MHzx8 ) but whenever I try to go further my PC won't run stably or won't boot. Are there any other settings which I should change so I could overclock it higher (I have the RAM multiplier at 2 and the CPU voltage at 1.35V at the moment)?

increase voltage, thats probbably why its not stable i suggest running some cpu temp tests afta you increase voltage.

What voltage do you recommend I should use (current 1.35V)?

Did you make sure to downclock it before overclocking?

What speed is it running at after you OC (could be causing problem if you forgot to downclock it first)?

You should just increase it the minimum possible at a time. Until it runs stable but without producing to much heat.

That's the thing, there is no option in my mobo to change the RAM frequency to what you want or change the timings. You are only able to change the RAM multiplier which starts at 2.0x and goes up. My current CPU clock is 400MHz and the RAM multiplier is 2 making the RAM speed 800MHz. When I up the CPU clock or the multiplier though the RAM speed increases, but it makes the timings rise (become higher numbers, not lower), so if that's underclocking then yes, it does do that.

Making it simple, at 3.4GHz (425MHz x 8.) the RAM speed will be at 850MHz (425MHz x 2) but the timings will be higher.

Yeah most Intel CPUs overclock both memory and CPU at the same time. Weird that BIOS has an option to OC the CPU, but not downclock the memory (or at least unlock it). You could try Ntune, but I don't know if that will work.

Nope, doesn't work. You need an nForce mobo for it.

I've found an overclocking app for Gigabyte mobo's called EasyTune, I'll try that.

My BIOS is different to that one. Mine does not display what the NB voltage is and what you can set it to. It only has the options: Default (or Normal or Automatic, forgot what the name of it was) +0.1V, +0.2V and +0.3. Although in there it says something about revealing the RAM timings in the BIOS if it is not shown. I will try that.

Nope, didn't work. Could the problem be that I am lacking voltage? I have a 500W Antec NeoHE PSU, an E6750 and an X1950XT. Do you think my PSU is enough for my CPU when it's overclocked high?

Also when you go into bios press ctrl + f1 then go into mip and you will have extra options

Got it to work now. I've tried raising the timings but still, doesn't boot when I try overclocking the CPU to 3.3GHz or higher. My default timings are 5-5-5-18, what do you think I should raise them to?

5-5-5-18 is pretty high already.... I would really try to up the voltage to 1.375 on your cpu..

I wanted to know with what did you do a read temp?

I used SpeedFan to read the temp of the CPU and I've already tried putting the CPU voltage that high already and it doesn't work.

there's too big of a difference, you need better cooling.
