Hello everyone, since I have my birthday in a few days I came up with a question, what should I get for a better gaming experience based on my current system's hardware, a CPU or a graphics card (GPU)? Also it would be great if you could recommend which cpu or gpu would be the best comparing the price with the quality.

PC

Intel core 2 E8400 3.00GHz

ASUS ati radeon HD 4850 512MB

4GB of RAM

Windows Vista: Ultimate

Really nothing is that bad. You would probably be better off waiting till DX11 card come out. Maybe get a blu ray drive if your monitor is large enough and HDCP able or even a new monitor or sound card. A new set of speakers like Logitech's Z series may be good depending on what you have right now.

You could even get a new CPU cooler and overclock your cpu a bit.

That's fine.

If you want something for a big gift: a new monitor, souncard, proper headphones (speakers are ok but you don't get as much for your cash and personally i use headphones much more).

For a small gift: upgrade coolers and such, get dust filters and anti vibration kit ect, they just make your PC seem much higher quality.

if you were to definetly get something avaliable now a 4890 would be a really nice boost and a worthy increase. The new cards will be out soon but they may be spendy, but if you go to a 4890 your PSU needs to be powerful enough. you can't loose either way the 4890 is a great card but then again you could wait. if you were to go CPU then just wait and go with a i7 later.
