CPU question AMD related

Hey guys,

I have a socket 939 amd athlon x2 4200+, i was checking out the socket am2 cpu's and realized they run a lot cheaper. I was wondering if their is a perfomance difference or it is just merely a difference in the # of pins. Any help would be greatly appreciated in clearing this question up. I really want to know what the difference is of these two formats.

By the way everyone on these boards are really great and helpful. This is the best online community I have come across and i really appreciate all the insight and technical knowledge that comes along with being part of this great online community--no matter what questions I seem to have there is always help an support here on the forums. theres no difference in performance. you will need am2 for quad core though.

Besides the pin layout and feature set there's almost no difference between any 754,939 and am2 motherboard
