it was all good till i bought the 7600gt. i used to have a ati x300, and far cry ran perfectly. but now, when i turn the settings up high, the textures become bright yellow or white and the game starts looking crap. i could play the game better even with the crappy x300 but the 7600gt is having this problem. i tried it on both xp and vista, and nowim running vista with the 101 beta drivers for vista. someone pleas help me what is causing this problem
I'm almost sure it will solve this problem... I had the same annoying yellow colors and sometimes even complete black fields. It was all gone after I patched it... Good luck on the game though, you will need! Great title btw.

There are some issues with the 1.4 when playing SP. It was intended for MP and has some not so great results on the SP campaign. One example is the enemies can shoot and see you through some walls and canvas on tents.

Holy fudge, you're freakin' kidding me, right? I recently played Far Cry for the first time and got completely frustrated at that very fact they had insane line of sight on my rear. I vehemently questioned why people thought the game was as awesome as it was and haven't played it since.
I'd only upgrade to version 1.33, for reasons already stated.
I had the ugly texture problem myself (7900GS Go) and patching the game fixed it. For me it was mostly the water, though...it's hard to describe other than it got really ugly.
I have a Geforce 6800, and I discovered that if the lighting was on high, than the textures got friggen jacked. Try tuning the lighting textures down to low and see what happens.
^^^^^^^ yes that IS the problem... u can only get rid of those ungly yellow textures if u set lightning n low... i wonder how the game wud actually look on lightning set to very high
