Creative X-Fi External Sound Card worth it for my laptop ??

I sold my computer a month ago but i still have a nice laptop i was wondering how is the External Creative Sound Blaster XFi card ??? I used to have an internal Extreme Gamer edition on my tower and loved it since i listen to alot of music. I still have my Bose speakers i used with my PC.

It depends. If you just use a set of stereo speakers and you are just listening music on your laptop then you will not notice any BIG difference. But if you play games and you have a surround speaker set, things differ. You will get higher sound performance in games, less CPU usage and of course all the goodies from Creative's equalizers and last but not least, EAX support.

Thanks i just didnt know if it was the real thing since its going through USB. But thank you i just got it from Best Buy and its not bad at all i like it.

I was thinking about putting a sound card into my new HP desktop. Will these x-fi cards (or sound cards in general) make a significant difference in games played with a G35 headset (the one that has simulated 7.1 surround sound)?

Yeah, the G35 plugs in and is powerd by usb 2.0.

Then it will not make any difference because the sound output is directly from your headset it does not go through your audio card.
