the folks at croteam posted some photo's of their workplace recently on their twitter account.. one of them sees an animator hard at work on a "new game" croteam only makes serious sam so its naturally going to be that.. devolver and croteam plan on having screens soon. i look on expectantly.

serious sam has been the only nonsense alien fighter this side of texas in duke's absence and to not have him here would be such a shame for same return... they hope to have screens by jan. 2011 and the game ready by the start of 2012.. heave ho croatian developers.. heave ho

I keep hearing about this game since 2006. I'm not a fan of the franchise, but their engines were always pretty awesome.

I wonder what happened to their realistic military shooter.

Imo, serious sam lost his magic touch, I mean guns, after the second one. Even the remake failed to capture my attention

Apparently, it has most likely been canceled. Croteam was working with publisher Gamecock on the game, however, when SouthPeak purchased Gamecock, many of their projects were dropped.

I dunno, I loved Serious Sam First and Second Encounters while Serious Sam 2 was a disappointment. Steam had free weekend of one of the HD Serious Sam remakes and for me personally, it just didn't have the same magic or appeal as the originals in their time. I'm hoping Croteam elevates their game beyond old-school shooting with Serious Sam 3 with some unique/interesting elements -- along the lines of (or surpassing) glimpses of what we're seeing with DNF!

What is wrong with Serious Sam 2? The only things I didn't like was that most of the guns looked too weird, and the level design could be better at certain places. Overall, I liked the game a lot.

it was very childish compared to the first 2

the first two were satirical but not overdone... 2 just left a bad taste in my mouth.. dont even get me started on gold.

Style, the pacing, underwhelming in general. Stuff like vehicles were added in terribly, and the action really didn't feel as frantic and tightly scripted as the others. The finale was just terrible as well, insulting even.

I wonder how will it turn out. These days people think games like SS is too hard with no action sequences etc. It is a very fun shooter, a terrifying game imo. In every room or open space you'll have to guess what sort of madness and horror awaits you.

I can understand your points on the style and the pacing. The style was a little too far off reality. The pacing had problems becuase the difficulty didn't scale up that well. I can also add that enemies didn't die in a satisfying way. They just blew into the same blood splatter every time.

I thought the vehicles were fine. I never had a problem controlling the vehicles, and I always found them effective choices. The controls were simple, but I don't think we play Serious Sam to play a vehicles sim.

The finale I enjoyed more than the first encounter's (never beat the second encounter). It was odd, for sure, but challenging and satsifying.

I agree with this, but the graphics and physics made up for it imo. SS3 will be amazing! Will Rock 2 anyone?

I don't agree that the graphics made up for it at all... if anything they hurt the game and despite the fact that they weren't even that great The enemy count was probably cut down to a third of what it was in Second encounter and the stages felt extremely restricting compared to the first and second encounters more open and large scale environments. All this to make a decent looking game with some decent physics and vehicle sequences? SS2 was simply a component of the "consolisation" problem that plagues just about every past PC franchise today.

Yeah they were open and large scale, but they also looked like Queen Elizabeth's granny panties. I'd trade in slightly-smaller environs for better-looking ones any day.

Its not sure it will be serious sam 3, cant say it will matter to me if it is or if its not. As long as its something similar. And yeah willrock 2 would be great. I actually liked that game.
