That's basically the type of undertaking experienced MODding teams try their skill at and fail. In other words, it's out of the question that you should manage on your own.

There may be hope for games on different iterations of the same engine, but even then such ports are bound to look just as crappy as the original, since the models and textures are the same.

any game can be made with any engine, cept for the limitations of the engine which might control certain aspects of the game, but GTA could be made with cryengine 2. but no game dev would make it lol.

they changed at least 3 times of engine, if not more ... and they can't keep up with today's standards because of all the time they lose ...

So you want to take GTA VC and move it to the CryEngine 2 on your own?
That's like trying to move a house from one spot to another..........on your own.

If you have experience in that department, a few years. If not. A few decades.

If you had CS degree, about 10yrs experience in game development and about a dozen other team members..... You could probably put GTA in Cryengine 2.... By the time you finished it Cryengine 5 would be coming out shortly, but I suppose it could be done.

That is completely and utterly ludicris. It is more like moving the neighbourhood about 30 miles. By yourself.
