Seriously, why is it $60 on PC? =\

Is it because of this limited edition thing with unlocks and stuff?

I don't like how PC games are becoming more expensive :S

Well as a matter of fact I am in europe, however, I was reffering to the price at EA's store.

And yes, retail is normally cheaper, except when steam games are on sale.

I buy most games from the UK at retail. Crysis 2 Limited 27 pounds + 1 transport outside the UK. That's about 45 dollars.

60 bucks is the soon-to-be norm now, for better or worse.

not suprising, considering the cost of games has pretty much been 49.99 for the past, oh idunno, two decades I have been gaming.

As long as I see, is adverted at 50 € on retail in the physical stores here in Spain. If this is the true prioce, is the same as the regular edition from Crysis in 2007 (the Special Edition that I bough did cost me 60 € ). I'm still not sure about either the SE or the Nano Edition (I want the steelbook case and the artwork, but the figurine and the nano-bag is to me like a gimmick for children... ).

Sale, 55% off. The regular edition is also 27 pounds, but 23% off.

That site has excellent deals. They're not the fastest, but they're always reliable. Yesterday they apologised for not sending me Demon's Souls on time lol.

I'll wait. EA is being greedy. Honestly the game doesn't look good enough to justify a $60 price tag.

Seems that nearly everyone is on the $60 bandwagon now. Activision, EA, and Ubisoft all come to mind. You can thank Activision for starting this trend.

LOL, some people will just use any opportunity to bash Steam I guess! No one had even mentioned Steam before that post either.

Yeah. Aside from that silly fact I get a lot of games on Steam for the USD price, usually $40-60 depending on the title, which is a lot cheaper to the $80-100AUD I'd find it at retail. Portal 2 for example is $45! That's HALF PRICE compared to what I'd be paying at retail. I've pre-purchased BRINK for $50. the last time I paid full retail price for a video game was when I paid $100 for The Orange Box. Not only was that worth ar more than $100, but it introduced me to Steam and I haven't looked back (this is coming from someone who still displays his N64 game boxes like a 10 year old :P and used to read the manuals back to back).

Not sure, I never understood why PC game prices never went up to $60 so I don't have a problem with it.Legolas_Katarn

The reason PC games never went up to $60 is because the PC does not have a "royalty fee". When you buy a game for the xbox 360 or PS3 between $7 - $10 goes straight to Microsoft/Sony in the form of a royalty fee (there are also higher disc duplication costs on the consoles). The PC has no platform holder and therefore there is no royalty fee on the PC. That is why you have seen PC games at least $10 cheaper than console games.

Unfortunately a few companies such as Activision, EA and Ubisoft have decided that PC gamers should now pay the same price as console gamers inspite of the fact the PC does not incur the same costs as the console version. But that isn't the worst of it, the worst of it is that we have gamers actually thanking these companies for it.

I have no problem with paying $60 for a PC game as long as the console version is $70. In my view there are legitimate reasons why the PC version should be cheaper and trying to get me to pay a console price for a PC game is just a company trying to rip me off.
