depends. i like it sometimes but i don't want most games to go this way. I want amazing looking fantasy worlds to explore.

Depends on the game, it works well for realistic shooters, esepcially with Alien giant spider bots , but I too prefer unrealistic games, more Hyped about Unreal Tournement, because of the darker / destructive theme.

It depends really. Oblivion's graphics were amazing, but the vistas weren't in particularly stunning, nothing made me go "that's awesome". HL2 Ep:2 and Gothic 3 on the other hand did.

That's maybe why they created the ice. I think it will be very surreal to see the realistic forest transformed into this icy landscape. Either way, I think it's a good thing to have realistic looking graphics in games like this. The fiction, IMO, should be achieved by other means (not the graphics). Unless you talk about Pacman or Tetris.. In those I don't mind the lack of realism.
