I'm getting really low FPS with crysis. I know its a demanding game but the FPS I'm getting are ridiculous. I have an nvedia 8800GT and 2GB of ram. And even when I put everything on medium and the res. on 1024x726 I get like 25FPS max!

I thought maybe I'm getting this sluggish performance because my processor is kinda old. I have a Pentium D 3.2 .

I'm new to PC gaming. actually crysis is the first game I bought for the PC :| so any help is appreciated.

thx in advance

There are lots of these topics on this forum and the Crysis-forum, just search a little. Crysis is the most demanding game out right now. Most people can't max it out on high res. That's just the way it is. Although your FPS is a bit on the lower side. Maybe it's your CPU that's bottlenecking the GPU. Also get the latest drivers from nvidia, might help.

Try to invest in a decent dual CPU, that's my advice.

Do you have other drivers too? What resolution do you use? And you need a better CPU.

I installed the drivers that came with the card, and Installed the latest drivers from nvedia.

I played on 1024x746 but I normally use 12x10

k but I don't want to pay alot of money for it. because I'll need to buy a new motherbored also.

imo that is really low. i know people with exact same configuration (including cpu) as yours who play at 1400 x 900 at high and get around 25.

what i can say is try the latest nvidia beta drivers and install the latest patch for crysis. also try out the few pre-made tweak files, one of which was posted in this forums some time ago

As long as the drivers and patches are from the official sites, you should download their patches and drivers. Don't worry, your system won't crash unless you download from shady sites. Use Gamespot to download patches, they don't upload viruses or malware.
