I'd like to know if I have to play Crysis 1 in order to understand Crysis 2's story. Is the protagonist from the upcoming sequel the same person from the original?

And is the Crysis: Warhead a must to play also in order to understand Crysis 2's story or is it possible to avoid this one?

Thanks

Why would you want to avoid the real Crysis games?

I'm not sure what you meant by saying, "real". I'll only play the old ones if their stories are heavily connected to the sequel, otherwise I'm better off playing other games that I have yet to play until Crysis 2 comes out instead.

i don't know how much crysis 2's story will tie in with events in crysis but i really can't imagine you won't understand what's going on. if you play the crysis demo, you will have enough background info on the story and everything that unfolds in the game after is highly predictable and unmemorable. meaning to say story really isn't one of the strong points of the crysis games and really adds nothing to how much you will enjoy the game so i wouldn't worry about it. then again crysis and crysis warhead are two of the better games released in recent years and can be found for cheap so i suggest you don't avoid them :)

No, you're not better off doing that. Crysis: Call of Duty won't be as good as the first and Warhead, I can almost gurantee you that.

I think you will be better off playing crysis, its not a console type shooter that relies on story alone. Actually it doesnt really gain much from the story at all, I dont know why people play fps games for story when 99% of their stories are just crap. Even bioshocks story is crap because of the end parts.

It's a wrong idea to play Crysis for its story to start with. But to answer your question: seeing as Crysis has the same excuse for a story as about 90% of the other shooters out there, I don't think you'll need to play it to understand it.

This, and it is also my strong belief that if playing Crysis for anything but its graphics would be just wasting your time. Skip Crysis 1, and play Crysis 2 if you must.

Well, it's decent, and the first few levels can be fun, but there are so many better shooters out there I agree.
