Hey everyone, quick question about Crysis warhead... i'm playing the game now and i have all the settings turned up to max.. now the game runs smooth no hiccups, no tearing, not losing any frames.. however..

i see people posting screens and pics of their games.. and lookin at mine while i play it.. it seems .. fuzzy .. i mean it looks great, but its like... fuzzy .. anyone got any suggestions or have encountered this problem before?

It sounds like your running the game on a low resolution, change the resolution to your monitors native resolution, which is usually the highest your monitor lets you go.

Normally a 32" HDTV should display 1920*1080. That's probably why it's fuzzy.

Not true at all. Most HDTV's that have been released since about a year or 2 ago at that size have supported 1080p. Before that people saw 1080p on smaller screens as pointless and most still do. Most older monitors native resolutions are 720 and they support the resolution he's using.

Dx10 is better than 9 which is why it's 10 and not 8. Remember most screenshots for Crysis have mods and stuff enabled which could be the visual quality difference that you are noticing.

With Crysis, I'd go with DX10. Using strictly in-game settings, the maximum detail in DX9 would be equivalent to High in DX10. With DX10 you get added effects. The differences are subtle. But, I can tell them apart easily enough.

It's a lot harder with Warhead. The same effects seen with DX10 is also present in DX9.

But you have a GTX 295. Max out that puppy.

My bad. I was thinking about that guy who has a GTX 295 and games on a 19" monitor. Ha Ha. I wish I had that card. I'd game on the 42" Sony.

while on the subject on crysis, let me ask this question.
first my specs: E8500@3.8Ghz, Ati Radeon 4870X2, 4GB ddr2 800Mhz, Asus P5Q-E, Vista HP 64Bit.
Now when i'm playing Crysis maxed (rez 1400X900), I get minimum frames of 22, average 35, max 55.

Is this normal with this card? or is my Cpu a bottleneck, hence its not a Quad?

I suggest trying this mod:

Hélder [HP] Pinto - Ultra High Quality Costum Config V1.3.1

OP: I'm not sure where this "fuzzyness" is coming from, I used to have a HDTV @ that same resolution as yours and it didn't appear fuzzy. Maybe that mod will help clear things up, or try turning off Motion Blur.

Poster Above me: Crysis Maxed with your specs, that average seem's about right, what AA setting are you using? try 2xAA or NoAA if you want more fps, but if it plays smooth at max then I wouldn't worry about it, and also it should give you piece of mind for other games out now and soon to be out because your PC can already handle Crysis well.

Gee. That's about what I get in the original Crysis with my Phenom II X3 720BE 2.8ghz (unlocked 4th core) and HD 5770.

I highly doubt you get 35FPS with Crysis maxed out with a 5770, at that resolution my HD4890 struggles to get 25FPS average.

Ooops. You're right. I had mine at DX9. So it's really only on High, not Very High. The frame rates of Crysis at DX10 on my pc is in the upper 20's.

When in DX10, I do keep Textures, Objects, Post-processing, and Water at Very High while the rest are High. With those settings plus 2xAA, I get average frame rates in the low 30's.

In any case, I normally game in DX10 on the first 6 levels. Once I get to the aliens, I go with DX9.

Yeah I thought as much, I really hate the game though I have upgraded twice and still cant run the game on very high with playable framerates... Got a 8800GTS 320MB for then upgraded to a HD 4890 last year and damn, hopefully my next upgrade will make a dent in the games framerate.

It depends really on what's playable framerates. I mean I finished both Crysis and Warhead with frame rates hovering around 30-35 fps average with occasional dips to the mid/upper 20's. So 30 fps is fine with me. But the HD 5770 is an interim board. I bought it only because I couldn't find any 5850s around last November. Plus, I want to game at full HD. I'll be upgrading my video card sometime this year. Since I bought an ATI card last time, the next one will be nVidia.

Also, that image I posted had 4xAA in my Catalyst CC. Once I reduced it to 2xAA, the frame rate jumped up from 32 to 36 for that same instance. Playable enough for me. He He.

im not really sure, because i have an i7 860 @ stock and a 5870, and i run at enthusiast no AA on 1080p. get approx 30. It slows down a bit during heavy sequences
