Try right clicking on the icon in the games for windows explorer folder. Then go to properties and compability tab. There you check administrator mode.
If you can't do that then go find the folder and the .exe that launches the game. You can also make a shortcut of the exe and put it on the desktop.
If its online you are talking about then alter the settings on your firewall. I had the same problem (when i first came to GS years ago lol) and it was my router's firewall thingmumbojig that was the problem.

I've got it! For some reason the compatability tab has just appeared...but the administrator mode check box is greyed out :P ... any ideas?
Try to put your profile and save games in a safe place and re-install, then try the save games again, I'm not sure if any problems are caused by having a profile made before patching the game then continueing; try making a new profile, start a game, save it, and try to load it, if that works try to go to one of your save games (note: this is speculation as I have not attempted to change a save game from one profile to another), and change the profile (they seem to be named (profile name)_(save number)_(map name)_(time in map), try to change the profile name to the new profile.
