My advice would be to sell a kidney. I mean, do you need two?
No. Do you need Crysis?
Yes. Yes you do.Â
Is anyone else kickin around this forum considering buying, building or at the very least, upgrading their PC for this game? I have been out of the PC gaming loop for a while, but from what I have read this game is gonna murder current setups, so it looks like I'm gonna be building a new PC. Nothin' like spending 4 grand to play a game lol. Cap_n_Crunch
lol you dont need 4000 dollars, a nice mid-range 1200 dollar machine will run it just fine (core 2 duo, 7600 or 8600GT, 2GB memory, decent mobo, etc).
Still, if you have been out of the loop for a bit its gonna cost you a good amount to get back in.
I was happy to hear that the developers are really trying to optimize this game well so some of you may not have to worry about upgrading your rigs...depending on how old they are. Herrick
Ya, there is a site out there that has a unofficial "official" requirements assembled off of interviews the developers have had, and basically the game runs maxed out with a 7800GT with 1GB of memory, and it is supposed to run well with even a 6800 card.

Only 1 gig? Damn. I'll believe it when I see it. This game seems so damned graphically intensive that I wasn't even counting on 2 gigs doing the job maxed out.Â
I just got a 7950GT a few months back, I was sorta expecting Crysis to maybe run well on it, I have a 3800X2 and 2 GB of RAM also, new games run really well and I can max out most, older games seem to give me random performance issues at times though(Doom 3 and Quake 4 have random slowdown). But Crysis is new so I am hoping for good performance.V4LENT1NEmainly because some of the older games are better optimized for older machines, I max fear, but battlefield 2 gives me issues, anyways supposedly in dx9 mode the main dev maxed it on a 7800GTX
I lol'ed at this. where would I go to sell my kidney.... I'm probably gonna own my wallet when I go to upgrade for it.My advice would be to sell a kidney. I mean, do you need two?

Yep, my new comp arrives in a few days, and I'm already considering buying at least another 8800GTS when crysis comes =PStaryoshi87why are you upgrading now when crysis doesnt realease till end of the year or early next year when you could get the same hardware for half the price and get the same performance pc doesnt have anything demanding till next year anyway..
I have been upgrading over the past few months, turning my Dell into a new machine. I wasn't doing it for Crysis, even though it is my most awaited games. The reason I'm upgrading is cuz my PC was (and kinda still is) sooo 2003. I mean, my ATI X800 XL 256mb is NOT cutting it any more. Oblivion only gets me on average 17 frames a second....lame. It's getting really aggravating not being able to enjoy newer games (2006 and up).Â
Â
Right now I have a Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz, X800 XL 256mb, 2Gb gaming RAM, a sweet NZXT case, and a failing 17'' LCD with blown pixels. I'm so mad at ATI right now...I've been impatiently waiting for months for their X2900 XTX 1Gb card and it doesn't come till April 24th...WTF? It was supposed to be November, then January, then February 17th, then March 30th, now April 24th.
Boy will I be in heaven when I can pop in that card and eat my games alive :DÂ
lol ive been slacking on the upgrading so im making a new pc with parts coming in the next few days:
Intel E6600 (2.4ghz)
2 gb Cosair Dominator 800 mhz
150 gb WD Raptor
EVGA GTS 8800 Superclocked 640mb
EVGA 680i
Â
Although... when crysis comes out i might just grab another 2gb of ram and another 8800 to be safe... there goes my aspirations for a motorcycle... Although the crysis requirements might be just like STALKER where the early requirements weren't really what was needed for the final version.
I doubt I'll bother upgrading. My system should run the game well with two 7800 GT's, and I can live without the DX10 crap. Unless Crysis has some serious multiplayer, I doubt the game will be worth the investment for a new PC...MyopicCanadian
Ya, unless the game has some longevity to it I cant justify getting a new rig for a game that will play for less than 20 hours. I would sooner build myself a new rig for Counterstrike or WoW than Crysis I think.

You should run it maxed out no question. I will have to OC my e6300 and get a new Graphics card. I am gonna get the 8600 GT
Yeah, I'm definitely going to upgrade my system at the end of this year, and Crysis is one of the main reasons. My current system (geforce 6800 256 MB, 1 GB RAM, 3.0 GHz intel dual core processor, windows xp, 250 GB hd) can run games like Half-Life 2 and Quake IV, and even F.E.A.R. on high settings, but several games from 2006 (e.g. Company of Heroes) don't run as well. The DX10 games will probably bring it to its knees.
For the upgrade, I'll probably go with a second gig of RAM, a second 250 GB hard drive, nvidia geforce 8600 ultra 512 MB, and Windows Vista Home Premium (upgrade). Based on the current prices listed at newegg, the total should come out to something like $465. I guess it's a lot, but I only upgrade once every two-three years. Herrickthe only problem is that you'll probably have 'again' a number of whinerz going on the forums saying crysis is the worst optimized game ever, crappiest coding i ever saw, it's this and that... you get the picture. people with sub-par PC or even decent one will whine for the only reason that the game doesn't run on max at a smooth 60FPS, i remember how farcry ran when i first got it, it ran on low but once i upgraded a little i was on smooth MAX
I would think but dont worry til its out The requirements maybe lower than what i posted no one knowsStill wonder will my comp able to run crysi???
My spec: Pentium(R) D 2.66Ghz , 2Gb RAM, GeForce 7900GTS

One way to save a lot of money is to enter "no dependents" on your W-4. That way you're overtaxed. The effect this has it that instead of paying out money at tax time you get money back. At tax time you claim yourself and whomever else that is your dependent and they send you the juice to buy stuff. I am getting massive amounts of money this year.Malphal
That's what I do and I had to pay $1850 federal. Is it really legal to put "no dependents" on the W-4 but claim them at tax time?

I usually hear people complain when they can't smoothly run the game on high settings even when their system requirements surpass the recommended specs. I think that's a valid reason for complaining.

1gig vs 2gigs of ram makes a hardly noticable difference in almost all games. 2gigs vs 3 or 4 gigs is un-noticable, and un-needed. you can do fine for awhile in pc gaming with 1-2gigs of ram this generationjust to let you know they canceled the 8600 ultra, its now the gt or w/e. and some site got hold of one with beta drivers, and it's scores were...well lets say a little over half that of the 8800 GTS 320mbYeah, I'm definitely going to upgrade my system at the end of this year, and Crysis is one of the main reasons.
