Should play well. The GeForce Go 8700GT is an overclocked version of the 8600GT. Even with DX10 on it's side though, I imagine the GPU having difficulty with the highest graphics settings and 256 MB of VRAM will kinda be a limitation too, but even still you'll run quite a playable Crysis, on a notebook no less, and it should be massively good times.

So here's my settings predictions for your MacBook Pro:

DX10 graphics will be set to medium-highs, with 2x Anti-Aliasing, 8-16x Antistrophic filtering. If their is any CPU scaling options, they will be at maximums.

So yes, you should have a fun time playing Crysis, not in all it's glory and gory goodness but in plenty of it.

Should play it at least, although they might not support Mac OSX with it. I haven't heard anything official on it yet, but perhaps someone else has?

youll be fine. were going to see a LOT of mac's playing PC games now that intel chipsets are standard and bootcamp is available.

I Have a macbook and love the hell out of it. I honostly wouldn't hesitate to buy a Macbook Pro instead of a gaming laptop to play my games so Id have the best of both worlds. And the Ability to continue my Graphic Arts via OSX

Obviously you dont read the topic or know anything about the innovation Mac has gone through over the last year to make them totally able to play PC games because of their Intel Processers.

Hence me RESTATING my fact. Obviously you havn't read up on it. Boot Camp has totally changed the Mac World around. they can do anything they want now. You can install windows right to any mac and everything plays out fine.

Stop acting like a fool. Its totally doable and with ease. and a Macbook Pro has good enough specs for gaming. assuming you get the higher end one.

It is, Youll be fine, don't worry about it. I Have my High End Gaming PC, But I also Have a Macbook as im a Pre Press Graphic Artist and Mac is a vastly superior when it comes to Graphic Design, But sinse I have both I follow the news ect.. very closly. I love what Mac has been doing lately, I Upgraded to an Intel Macbook a few months ago and havn't looked back. Its insane what you can do with it.

But keeping tabs on people who are using IMacs & and Macbook Pro's with Bootcamp & Gaming have always kept my interest over the last few months because I know the next time I Get a new Macbook Ill definily be getting a High End Pro Model so I can game also via Bootcamp, and from what I have been reading it works fantastic for the majority of users.

My Only Advice is to hold out as long as possible from buying it incase new Macbook Pro Models come out with Video Card Upgrades. THey Already did the Processer Upgrades about 6 weeks ago, Ram & Video Changes wont suprise for the Holiday Season.

Yes I agree, MacBook Pros (and all Macs for that Matter) are great! I mean 250+ FPS for Half Life2 on a MacBook Pro is Insane!! As for waiting for an upgrade I'll Probly Get one around Fall and (if they upgrade the Line within in a month of purchase you can opt for the Upgraded Moddle!) and use My old PC (See Sig)((i doubt It'll run)) for Crysis till I get a MacBook Pro

I wouldn't advise overclocking a laptop at all, and I'm not even sure if Macs allow you to go into the settings and adjust the fsb and voltage.

Well you can overclock your GPU and CPU via nTune, although you need a compatible motherboard with the nvidia control panel in order to overclock the CPU from that, and generally its much safer to overclock from the bios instead of through software.

Laptops also tend to run much hotter than a typical desktop, which is another reason why its typically not recommended to overclock a laptop. Either way you should be fine with Crysis on that computer and not need to overclock your CPU.

i own the macbook pro described by the op and tried far cry on highest res and with everything set to maximum quality. the game ran absolutely smooth.

this obviously doesn't mean that crysis is going to run well with everything maxed out, but i'm sure i'll be satisfied.

hope it helps

A 8600GT equalls 7600GT in DX9. Both cards will not run this game on max. Maybe high, mostly med.

The GeForce Go 8700GT is technically an overclocked Go 8600GT and at stock speeds the 8700GT hits 10000 MTexels/Sec theoretically. That's pretty good and should work quite well in DX10 mode for Crysis. Not maximums but pretty nicely though.

I wont be buying for a little while so Like Zemus before the could upgrade the MacBook Pros to higher VRAM amount or 8700GT or what ever...Thats what they did with that old old Core Duo MacBook Pros (The First ones) around this time
