I can't even get this game running on low settings @ 1024x768 with no AA at 30+ fps. This is ridiculous. The demo played fine on medium but the real game is worse...

My system is:

AMD 3800+ @ 2611MHz

2048MB RAM

XFX 8600 GT XXX 620/1600 (newest drivers 169.21)

Any suggestions?

I don't like the card - the 8800 GT (512mb) at $300-400 is a great buy.

Install the latest patches which improve performance I am told..

Reinstall? Close applications like Steam, anti-virus etc. Hit me back. xx

I run the same system basically except a 4200+, same card though and I run crysis at 1400/900 at medium w/no AA and it plays fine. I never recorded the FPS but it's in the 30's or so. Mine is a 4200 X2. You must be running some programs or something.

Even with a powerful PC, Crysis can still sink/destroy your PC, inducing a lot of lag/chug.

Be sure you're running the latest video drivers from NVidia and the latest patch from Crytek.

The patch isn't magic....... Drivers are more important. I had the same problem when I first tried the demo - 10 FPS on low. I needed to update drivers.

I would say the main problem is your CPU, i would get a dual core CPU along with an 8800GT GPU.

Just saw you have updated drivers. OK, give the patch a go. You should be experiencing this game at 12x10 on medium fairly smoothly.

That's normal. To max out crysis you need a quadcore cpu and 3 video cards with 4gb of ram. My current rig has a QX6700 quadcore cpu @3.2ghz, 4gb RAM (2x2GB @667mhz), 2x nVidia 768mb 8800gtx SLI, 128mb PhysX Card, and a creative soundblaster x-fi xtreme soundcard. If I put it at 1920x1200 with everything on high including motion blur and with AA at 2x then I can run it at 60fps no problem. However as soon as I start increasing the AA frame rate drops. I have the patch and i'm running it on windows xp. When I run it on vista I can run it at 60fps with AA off and all of the previous settings at high and even some at ultra high. XP doesn't support ultra high I guess because there is no DX10. Sorry if my post is confusing i'm really tired. One more thing crysis has f*****d up progamming. It's ridiculous and makes no sense that the only pcs that can run it are ones with tripple sli and quadcore with 4gb of ram running at 1066mhz.

Think realistically: You don't need it up that high to make it look good. Geez the guy wants it on medium..

I'm not going to pretend that any old PC will run Crysis perfectly, but you don't need a $2000 computer to get the game running well either. Just make sure your sysem is well optimized and check out Tweakguides.com.

It is a myth that Crysis needs a super computer to run the game. I cannot imagine why you are not able to play the game on medium with that configuration.

Check my Crysis First Look

I ran the game on 7600GS AGP. And it worked. I am not joking. It's true. You may have a lot of programs running the background, or maybe your drivers are out of date. Get the Crysis optimized drivers from Nvidia. That should make some difference.

Quite frankly, I think there is something wrong with your computer. You better check the amount of RAM and CPU usage.

lol?

2x2 gb 667 ram + ageia physx . Sounds like a dell xps to me. Yeah you may be able to attain 60 fps in some areas, but according every benchmark out there, a qx6700 + gtx sli can no way achieve an AVERAGE of 60fps @ 1920x1200 all max 2xAA.

It's called future proofing. The game wasn't intended to be maxed out straight away. It was intended to be maxed out in like a years time (from release).

It was similar when they released Far Cry. No one was able to max it out at the time.

Yet a game like Half-Life 2 looks as amazing as it does and you could play that on a Dx7 card.

and FarCry on release caused the same problems Crysis has..

anyways a nice way to increase performance, head here and download the Natural Mod 2.0.1... its all custom graphics that tweaks and changes a few things, you may have to turn a few extra things down for the 8600 to cope, but you might do ok, its worth a shot.

and yes, the CPU is what makes a big difference in Crysis. at stock 2.4ghz on my quad with SLI, i was getting about 26fps average. when overclocked to 3.6ghz, my average went up to 34. thats Vista 64/DX10/1680x1050 EVERYTHING V.high. the SLI was creating a bottleneck yeah, but even when i run a single card and overclock the quad, my frames go up about 4-5 per second more. thats a decent jump. enough to make unplayable playable.

I did a driver cleaner, reinstalled my drivers, and installed the new patch ... and the game runs beautifully! I can play on 1024x768 with 30-40 fps average. I have everything on medium (physics and water are on high!). Thanks for the help. My computer isn't too bad. I will probably add a second 8600GT becuase the price is already $79 after rebate. For now though I can max out Bioshock, The Orange Box games, and Unreal Tournament 3 with solid framerates.
