When I got my new PC a few months back, I was excited about being able to max games so I decided to get Crysis, I'm glad I only threw away $20 on it because it wasn't a very good game, sure it may have some amazing graphics, but the gameplay and story are not that special, which should take precedence over graphics imo.
[QUOTE="gmaster456"]I find it funny that a game 2 years old is still being used to benchmark today's PC'saeropride
with a **** engine no less.
What makes it a **** engine? It still looks better then anything else out there and it is 2+ years old. It's one of the greatest shooters ever.RichardStallman
I haven't played the game yet, but isn't that a bit strong. I mean it has beautiful graphics but according to previous posts, not much else. Does that really earn it a place as one of greatest shooters of all time?

Yeh, i think so. Crysis delivers an experience meant to encourage players to be creative in how they play and improvise constantly. There is an array of ways to tackle each obstacle in the game. It sends you into an open immersive and extremely interactive environment with perfectly balanced nanosuit that allows you to change your play style on the fly. I've yet to play an FPS that offers this kind of rewarding and dynamic experience.[QUOTE="dakan45"]Ill go with the above posters and say its pretty overatted. I played both games and in the second i got bored alot. So when i completed both i uinstalled them and i never played them again!! If crysis 2 is also as borring and unpolished as the first then count me out!!! What do i mean unpolished? Well gunplay felt pretty meh for a 9.5 game if you ask me!! Maybe its just me playing uncharted and resistance and killzone 2!!! :lol:navali haven't played KZ 2/U 2, but Resistance , really ? You thought Crysis was weak because you had played Resistance , really ?
Well in resistance the combat felt better, more oldschool more hl2!! The gunplay was more solid and for me thats the only thing it counts in a fps!! But ofcourse in everything else is far superior, but as a cod fun i care only about shooting stuff :P!!

While I agree Resistance was simplistic/old school in nature, but gunplay .. ughh....anyways nvm Well i put it this way, in stalker sometimes enemies take many hits but atleat the weapons are accurate, in crysis i missed way too many times. There is nothing that pisses me off than a double fail to kill an enemy and injure him instead. To me it felt like weapons where uneffective against the enemies. Also killzone 2 had the same feeling. 4 hits to the head and the ai is still moving, way too many shots to knock them down!! But cod and resistance or hl2 did not have that. There was a reasonable amout of bullets that you had to spend to kill a single enemy!! I guess in the end its a dilemma between a reasonable amout of shooting and tougher ai that takes many bullets to kill which also makes the game more challenging!! I give my award to uncharted for finding the right analogy in between those two!!i say it get it.. its a good game overall.. the action, freedom and the nano suit is what makes the game unque/awesome :) i have yet to find a game that can deliver gameplay like crysis..
btw naval dont bother with dakan..its a lost cause!!!

Yeah. Also there are people who consider HL2 the greatest shooter ever, and IMO Crysis is far better.[QUOTE="Urworstnhtmare"][QUOTE="RichardStallman"]It's one of the greatest shooters ever.RichardStallman

Yeah. Also there are people who consider HL2 the greatest shooter ever, and IMO Crysis is far better. ...and here comes the great example, there are people that consider hl2 the greatest fps ever when crysis is graphically and technically superior with more complex gameplay and capabilities plus far superior ai!!! Infact many fps are better than hl2 with those criteria. But in the end it comes down to presonal prefence, if it makes sense to them call hl2 the greatest fps ever, then i dont undestand why i cant pick any other simplistic linear generic fps without amazing graphics or AI and call it the best fps ever? :([QUOTE="devious742"]

I think he is talking about your reputation for drawing out debates by making ridiculous arguments. You know, like the time you were saying that Half Life 2 wasn't a good game because, as I recall, there were "too many holes" in the area under the train bridge. I'm also pretty sure you made a big stink about the turrets in the game, something like you didn't like how they sound.

Well there's such a thing as opinion, and there's also bad taste.whoa :o the 2 posters above me took the words straight out from my mouth :O :O get out from my head
Pick up the pack with Crysis and Warhead.
Crysis is a great sandbox shooter, one of the best this gen until the last third of the game.
Warhead is an excellent addition, much more consistent than Crysis, although its shorter.
Comes with Crysis Wars as well, a multiplayer stand alone which is rather good.

Ontop of this download Mechwarrior Living Legends Beta.
And there you have a fantastic combination of games.

But in the end you also have to ask yourself on what actually does make you to like a game and what doesn't? In order to dislike game you need either a big reason or you might have many small issues with the game that all of them together can hurt your experinace to have a large I had a large amount of small reasons to dislike it because there was not a big problem with the game. For example the episodes have fixed all the complains i had with hl2!! If episode 3 is like episode 2 then i am lookng forward to it!!

Depends on how you see that. Bad taste is also debatable. How you define bad taste? For example, via ratings? Because there are games rated high by gamespot but they are highly disliked by the members of this forum!! So i guess in the end good/bad taste is also an opinion and i since my friends since to have the same tastes as me, i can jump to the conclusion that the members of this forum have bad taste ;)
...just saying, at the end everything is an opinion!!
No everything is not just 'an opinion' There is a difference between an informed opinion, one with much bias, an educated one and an objective one. There is also a difference between someone who understands game design well and someone who doesn't and is just along for whatever ride. By your logic an informed critique is as good as a ranting fanboy. Which is quite frankly bad logic, opinion or not.Depends on how you see that. Bad taste is also debatable. How you define bad taste? By your logic an informed critique is as good as a ranting fanboy. Which is quite frankly bad logic, opinion or not. So if there are 3-4 things that i dont like about the game and lowered the quality of my experinace. I dont have the right to talk about them because they sound like biased rants to others? Ok, but gamming is based on fun and not everyone understanding the game design and have fun with a game because its very advanced in all ways and thats why its logical to have more fun with it!! For example i would have more fun with half life 2 or cod than crysis or arma 2 anytime!! Now those 2 games are the most advanced thing currently on the pc and their graphics and gameplay are quite superior in every way from hl2, but i actually have more fun with a more simplistic game like half life or cod!! I even have more fun with much older games like quake 2 or doom or even a new platform game like Trine!! Logically Arma 2 and crysis are far superior in every way, but sorry i just have more fun with the games i mentioned before, which are highly inferior by means of logic!! So thats what i mean in the end its just an opinion and personal prefence, even in reviews!! Also if i tell you why i have more fun with these games and why i have less fun with those games... i am sure you gonna find my issues biased and ridiculous or invalid. Sorry but honestly those are my issues even if they seem biased to you guys and i apologize if they do, but sadly there are my issues!!Depends on how you see that. Bad taste is also debatable. How you define bad taste? For example, via ratings?

Couldn't you just say something like "I didn't like the sound design" or "some points were too frustrating for me" instead? We might take you more seriously if you came to some conclusion about the game by taking into account all that you didn't like.
Pointing out small trifles like turret sounds give everyone the impression that you are searching for just about anything bad to say about the game.

We all understand what opinions are, and they are not immune to scrutiny and criticism just because they are opinions.

Honestly what i did not like was that it was more of a game that requires physics over gunplay. The first hl was more abour combat and less about physics!! For example hl2 lowers the action and run and gun part by doing things such as the antlions part that you had to pick up items and place it on the ground to walk instead of fighting, or the turrets that cannot be destroyed. On the other hand half life was more about action and destroying turrets!! Also the ai in hl2 is much less agressive and the ammo capacities are lowered plus there are not any strong aliens like those brutes in half life 1!
Basicly i did not like hl2 because it focused less on action and more interacting with the world while your weapons where not a solution that could interact with the world, eg like destroy the turrets or those electric balls with your guns, instead you had to use the gravity gun. Or kill the antilions and keep moving. However you had to move slowly on objects so you wont wake them up!!
So in conclision those small things ruined the experiance for me when they could have made it more action focused like episode 1 and 2, which for me are far better than hl2 and i have no complains about them!!
one of my favorite fps games on the pc an excellent game with amazing graphics. i enjoyed it more then farcry because of things like the nano-suit. pure gunplay doesn't really appeal to me like say quake I i enjoyed a game like doom 3 more because it was more then just gunplay. same thing with hl2 vs hl1
