I recently upgraded my PC and was thinking about picking up "Crysis Maximum Edition" It comes with Crysis and Crysis Warhead, on steam for $39.99). Is it still worth it to pick up? Does it have multiplayer? Also how do you guys think it would fair on my comp?

Specs are:

-AMD x4 965

-4 gig OCZ ram

-Gigabyte 5830 1gb

-res is 1680x1050

It's totally worth it. I've never even tried the multi-player, though.

You should be able to play it just fine. I don't know about maxing it out, I have an HD 5770 and have a little trouble with it. But, yes the game is definitely worth it if you haven't played it, and if you're getting the maximum addition you'll be getting Crysis Wars with it as well which is multiplayer.

If it was at one point, "worth it", then how in the hell can it now not be "worth it"? Do people around here think games quality degrade over time? I swear these topics pop up all the time.

let me put it to you this way....i hated crysis in 2007....thought it was a tech demo that lasted 8+hours....3 years later....after playing the latest and greatest shooters around.....crysis has grown up to be one of the best games around.....and im not talking patchwork....or mods....im saying that its just that much better than the POS's that are being passed off as AA+ games....definitely get crysis....u might not be able to max it....look at my specs.....i run a combo of medium/low....and i still think its an amazing game....just dont expect cod4-6....and think realistic....remember body armor stops bullets and go for the head XD!!!!

Get it, it's absolutely awesome. When you see the snow levels, you will shed many tears of joy. It will be a little like this guy's reaction to the rainbow. It's a gorgeous-looking game and the gameplay is solid. Don't listen to the haters.

Definately, although why did you buy a 5830? It's the demented version of a 5850 and rather unnecessary.

I found it brand new on ebay for $165, it was between it and the 5770, so obviously the 5830 won. I can max out BFBC2 with 30-80 fps, so it works for me..

Of course it's worth getting. The graphics are still miles ahead of anything else on the market (a level where you go inside a spaceship actually manages to look better than a lot of the CG effects you see in movies). The gameplay is pretty good too and makes it one of the better shooters to have been released in the past 3-5 years. There's a lot of freedom in how you can go about achieving your objectives in the game. You're not limited to a set number of routes in most of the levels and it's very rewarding to pull off creative combos with the suit powers. The multiplayer was never big in this game. Crysis Wars was popular shortly after its release but these days the servers are pretty dead. It's a game you get for the single player experience, not multiplayer.

You might wanna try it out, but $40 seems a bit steep. I got Crysis 1for $14 as some kind of benchmark, and I didn't end up liking the game because it bores me very quickly.

It's worth it if you get it on sale, because even combined with Warhead, the experience is pretty short. As far as the game itself, I think Crysis (the core game) is worth playing through once just to see it, but I personally didn't really like the game at all. Other than the graphics, nothing about the game struck me as being anything but passable, and some elements (particularly the plot and voice acting) were just plain bad. It's an alright way to spend an afternoon though, so like I said, grab it if you can find it on sale.

for sure, it has that "it factor" that only a few games ever achieve. The tech immerses you in the right way, not using cutscenes or silly story segments but by making you feel like its world is real.

Crysis wars is actually still fairly active, there are always a couple of full servers and several active ones.

Nothing has changed that will make it to no longer worth it. If you can run it, the graphics are still amazing but there are much better games.

if you have imagination and will enjoy being given the freedom to achieve your goals in a multitude of different ways then you should definitely get crysis.

if you prefer heavily scripted, linear, dont-think-just-shoot kind of games like cod then crysis might not be for you. warhead is a little bit more along those lines though.

crysis is my favourite shooter of recent years and is one of my favourite pc games of all time so i would definitely recommend it. never played the multiplayer though

I agree. Try the demo and if you love that then buy it at full price. But if it doesn't blow you away then wait for it to go on sale. The game has quite a bit of potential replay value, but I can never get past the first 3 missions whenever I try playing through the game again... I almost die of boredom every time. However, it was fun the first time through.

I have to agree - the beginning is quite boring. But once you push through it, the game becomes better.

You should've gotten a 5850, because then you'd be able to max everything out(like me =D)
