Ouch, I love FEAR, it has a strong european fanbase, co-op is awesome as its AI can't be beat.
But yeah, I see Crysis as being a new Far Cry with a very awesome Multiplayer, but may suffer from repetitive environments, since it's pallet seems to be centered around a dense jungle.
Crysis the next Half life or FEAR???
I'd say Crysis is better than those games put together so i'm not gonna vote113871999

I dont know about that, you dont know yet it is not out. Look at Black, that game was suppose to be awesome but is was actually pretty lame, and it looked sweet as hell.

Next gen is just a sales term that have been used for many years, and retards still gets sucked in :) Graphics are zero importnant now dude, and the videos so far has just shown great graphis but with a typical fps gameplay,it even looks to have a silly gameplay, for in some videos you trow people around and push humvees trough the air, BOOOOORING. So far im not impressed. Not gonna spend a lot of money to upgrade my rig just for a graphics update. But if it has a fantastic story and fantastic gameplay, then ill take my words back, but so far NOTHING ;)

ARE YOU A COMPLETE IDIET im talking about dx10What are you 5??? Dx10 isnt that big of a leap that for example dx9 was over dx8. And is graphics the only thing that matters too you in a game?
Both Half Life and Fear had good story lines and good graphics even to today's standards. Now Crysis has the next gen eye candy thats for sure. Still, no one has played it through on through so I don't know why there's a discussion on this. I can look as Crysis and get very excited but if I do that I'm just going to be more disappointed if its not all that its cracked up to be. Lets wait and see how the story of the game goes. That's going to be the deciding factor. So no vote from me.
Man I sure hope so.
I remember when Halflife came out. I did so much research on it, read the PC Gamer review about it (95% I think) and was just enchanted by it.
Then Christmas morning 1998 my parents got it for me. I think I knew it too because, like Calvin and Hobbes, I was awake at 4:00 or 5:00AM and I had to go back to bed for a few more hours. That beautiful box with it neon orange and the headcrabs. I remember forcing myself to sit there as we finished opening presents and eating breakfast, then casually walking to the home computer (a pentium pro 180 with like 64MB memory or something). I installed it and read the manual about ten times.
I would do anything to feel that way about a video game again, to be 12 years old again and actually have an emotional experience with a game as opposed to seeing it merely as a challenge. The initial tram ride with that sexy, somber, and eerily foreboding female voice. Remember the first time a barnacle ate a scientist? And the first time it ate you, and how you panicked like crazy! Then remember seeing the grunts, and, like a rabbit, being flushed out of your safe hole by a grenade and then shot at on three sides? And then being chased by a Gargantuan? Then there was the laser-guided RPG and the...
Idunno, I long for the days where developers had to work with whatever tools they were given and make the funnest game they could. Nowadays it seems like more time is spent developing the tool than the actual game, and as a result gameplay suffers. FEAR was a great game by all means, but I just didnt care, you know? There was nothing "involving" about that game, it was just a solid shooter with a few cheap thrills thrown in. Am I crazy for still thinking that Deus Ex, Fallout 2, Halflife, Neverwinter Nights, System Shock 2, Thief, and a few more games are the best the the industry has ever put out? I mean, its hard to be a classic due to the epic stature they reach, but they can at least get 99.999% of the way there, right?
Neither, it'll be the next FarCry, which I rate under many other shooters, including FEAR and Half-Life. To be honest I don't see how people in this topic can throw out some of their points about a game that isn't out yet. Crysis has the eye candy, but does that make a game good?
NO.
Graphics may be fun for a but until you get bored of them, and it doesn't take that long. And once the graphics fade, there has to be really solid gameplay to back it. I think FarCry was a decent game, but not a great one... the storyline and flow of the game was terrible in my opinion, but it did look pretty and played quite nicely...well, it didn't really suck me in.
I will check out crysis, if at least for the technology... but whether it'll be good gameplay wise? That remains to be seen. either way, if I base it against FarCry, then my answer is no, it won't be better than either of those games. But it does look better than FarCry, I just pray the storyline isn't such dribble as FarCry's was...seriously, a five year old could come up with something like that during his pre-school lunch break.
yeah thats what im talking about the graphics you bloody idiet and no graphics is not everything but graphics is 60% of gaming fun . with out graphics a game would be **** . unless ya broke and cant afford sh*t then that's a different storyburning_ice11
You think Graphics are the main reason games are worth playing? That's such a shallow, little kid thing to say. The best games we know aren't graphical powerhouses anymore but are still the best gameplay/stories (Fallout, HL, zelda:oot). Grow up.

ok then . give me a good game that has crap graphics ! go go just one[QUOTE="YourOldFriend"][QUOTE="burning_ice11"]yeah thats what im talking about the graphics you bloody idiet and no graphics is not everything but graphics is 60% of gaming fun . with out graphics a game would be **** . unless ya broke and cant afford sh*t then that's a different storyburning_ice11

ok then . give me a good game that has crap graphics ! go go just one half life 1 is just old school now half life 2 is awsum . zelda and fallout HAHAHAHA you must be really broke and not be able to afford a decent computer . the onli reason you call them good is becouse you cant play anything else HAHAHA ! :lol:THe question is not fair. It amounts to forcing people to decide which was the better game - HL2 or FEAR. It is like comparing an apple (a fruit as in "A for Apple", not the company) .... and an orange. In my opinion CRYSIS will just be a much improved version of Far Cry with loads of new features.
Talking about the multiplayer , I think it will match HL2
Well the self-proclaimed gamers......... why just u don't appreciate the games u played?
they played those games with pride and I think claimed that game to be one of the greatest few years back.......... now when they have no longer reason to play it anymore they start to trash it comparing it to a game that even hasn't released yet.......... shame on you......... I am sure after 2 years they will do the same to crysis......... e.g "panic" the next crysis or fracture???
Being excited for new game is one thing but comparing it to the games u loved once and trashing them saying they were a disappointment is not a gamer's attitude.......
Ok, I guess it's time for my two cents.
In my personal opinion I wish Crysis is another Duke Nukem: Forever. overhyped Vaporware that actually never gets released.
All this talk about this game and how great it is is tantimount to saying " Oh my god! Look at the screenshots on this game box! I have to buy it because the screenshots on the box are so rad, man!" This game does not even have a demo out, but yet, there are those that are foaming at the mouth claiming that based solely on screenshots and pre-rendered videos that Crysis is far superior to any game out now. Show me a release date. Then, on that date, IF it ever sees the light of day, AND after the first 2 months of play if anyone still plays it, or if it becomes another Far Cry, THEN post this poll.
Well, having 20 mods registered to ModDB before the game is even released is a pretty good start I would say.
But no game can or ever will compete with Half-Life. Ever.Doom_HellKnight
I think that is BS personally. You think there were no games that was being said about before Half Life came along? The next "greatest game ever" is always waiting to be developed.

Im sorry man, but I just feel that games as little as 5 years ago were top quality. It doesnt mean I Hate games now nor do I intend to belittle them. There are lots of great game out now, and even better ones on the horizon.
It just feels that as of lately everything seems based on visuals and gimmicks. Cover systems, motion blurring, "realistic" physics, etc....all gimmicks that I admit are cool, but it causes the focus on gameplay to stray away so youre left with a beautiful game full of a bunch of cool little things.
Personally, I blame the 360. I love that console, but the sudden surge of multi-platform titles means that games are designed for the lowest common denominator; in other words, the stupid console gamer (no, console gamers are not all stupid but there are a few of them, and thats who games are built for nowadays). There is no segregation of games anymore! Before it used to be that you had your games on Nintendo/Sega/Playstation, and you had your games on PC, and they were both seperate and fun. Now you got the same games on all platforms, they all do their best to outdo eachother visually, and they tend to forget about gameplay.
Do you know how long its been since I have played a game as fun and innovative as Deus Ex or Homeworld? Freaking forever it feels! Bioshock looked promising, but after the gameplay videos and the fact that it is a multi-platform title, I am keeping my expectations as low as possible (but my hopes are high).
So, to sum up, I feel us PC gamers have every right to be a little disappointed with the industry lately. They blame us for piracy when they know thats BS, they are quickly abandoning the PC to go for console (Wolfenstein 2 for the 360? WTF JOHN CARMACK YOU TRAITOR!), and a decent story is a hard find nowadays. I love PC gaming and will always love it, but I often sit here wondering "whats the point anymore?".
If I want mindless action and stuff like that, I would go play football or something or go to a game and watch it. I play games to be mentally stimulated, both intellectually and to vent off some steam.
But yeah, I see Crysis as being a new Far Cry with a very awesome Multiplayer, but may suffer from repetitive environments, since it's pallet seems to be centered around a dense jungle.

in the vids so far, but the game is going to take place on of course, the jungle, also an aircraft carrier, inside the ice sphere, and somthing about space

That was pure poetry. Better than T.S. Elliot in many ways.
