Which one should I get and why? Thanks for the input!

crysis. far cry 2 is boring, u will spend hours travelingname294Yeap. Go for crysis. Also since you are willing to spend 50 for a game why dont you buy crysis and crysis warhead ( 50 from steam for both) Another think to look for is that crysis has a great mod community
I never played Warhead but i do have Far Cry 2 and my reccomendation is to spend your money on Warhead that gamecan't be as boring and bad as Far Cry 2.
Warhead, hands down, you get decent multiplayer, lots of mods, lots of single player maps, cryengine sandbox editor and oh yeah you get the singleplayer campaign :P, FC 2 is just broken, it has some interesting visual effects but that's it.
Lol, if the plot in Warhead makes no sense, why don't you do the logical thing and play the first Crysis?neither
haven't played far cry 2 but i didn't find it fun
i have swbf2, cod4, and orange box and all those shooters were more fun than crysis
the plot in crysis warhead makes no sense and its too short

TC, Crysis and Crysis Warhead are leagues better than Far Cry 2. I can't even force myself to play Far Cry 2, it's that boring.
Definately don't buy the waste of time that is FarCry 2. After you've finished the first few missions you've pretty much seen the entire game.
Crysis Warhead is extremely enjoyable.
At first, I was amazed with FC2 because of the beautiful, incredibly detailed and immersive setting, but after few hours in I just became bored with the game. The whole game is pretty much compromised of boring missions that feel like generic side-quests, and the plot is about as bad as it can get(pretty much non-existant). Every assigment is along the lines of "go blow up that train", "take out that truck", etc... it's just repetetive as hell. Also, there are no mods for FC2, so Crysis >>> FC2.
Far Cry 2 isn't as bad as everyone says, but it's still not really worth buying. I'd go for Warhead, which is great.
Not EVERY aspect. Since Length is an Aspect, and Far Cry 2 is most definately longer.get crysis warhead by a huge margin over far cry 2. Crysis warhead is better in every aspect, by far.

[QUOTE="chris24l"]Not EVERY aspect. Since Length is an Aspect, and Far Cry 2 is most definately longer. The extra length comes from the forcing of save points requiring you to replay everything (including the long drives) in a missions if you die mid-mission. Not really a good thing in my opinion.get crysis warhead by a huge margin over far cry 2. Crysis warhead is better in every aspect, by far.

My choice would be Crysis and afterwards, Crsysis: Warhead to complete the whole 'cryisis' experience. In my opinion, Crysis the original is a little bit better than Warhead, which has lesser story component but more compact and fun missions. Far Cry 2 has beautiful but unflexible graphics engine and it is repetitive and boring, so I vote NO for fc2 :)

true FC2 is longer, but repetitive and boring. And crysis wars online is fantastic, better than the original crysis online. There is no comparing Crysis warhead with far cry 2, but really its because crysis wars is just that good.
While Warhead is a game of higher quailty, it can be finished very, very quickly.
Far Cry 2 is not Nearly as bad as everyone says it is, my analysis of the situation is that a few rather uncreative gamers bought the game on its release, found it boring because of the driving sections which can be expected in such a large game, and tainted the views of those who had yet to buy the game. these early nay-sayers seem to have created an aura of undeserved hate around the game, which i personally really liked. I saw it through to the end, and am actually replaying it. Its FAR less repetative than assassins creed, but if you, the gamer, are unorigonal, you will find it boring because it relys heavily on the gamer to create fun for yourself. there are a few irritating deseign desicions, but worse decions have been overlooked in far more popular games. FC2 also has good multiplayer if the matchmaking service doesn't hate you, the mp is good for at least 20 hours or so, more if you like it, less if you don't. the sp is good for 20-30 hours, depending on how fast you go through the game. if you use the buses, the traveling sections are not longer than 5-10 minutes at the very longest, often shorter.
i'm not going to go into detail on warhead, becuse its getting much more love. there is awsomeness packed into that 6 hours, but there is the problem. its only about 6 hours, if you take your time.
so, if your a highley uncreative gamer who loves to go with the flow and refuses to go into a new game with an open mind, get warhead.
if you are capable of going into a publically hated game with and open mind, and have the ability to creat fun for yourself in firefights instead of just charging in and killing everyone time and time again, get Far Cry 2. your call.

I doubt you have an idea of what "you" can actually do with warhead, if you say something like that.
Also, mods and custom maps (some of them are absolutely marvelous) can get you well over 30 hours besides the Warhead campaign and Wars and that's if you hurry, I doubt you can get that much diversity and play time on FC 2.
FC 2 has some nice ideas and the fire looks great, weapon sounds are pretty good but the rest sucks, gameplay wise it's pretty broken and overall it is extremely uncreative.
Take it logically as with teeth said it (but not in the, if you're smart get FC 2, if you're dumb and uncreative get Crysis way) you'll get way more out of the 30$ you pay on Warhead (just look at some mods for it, besides the content that is already available) than you'd get from the 40$ or w/e FC 2 costs now.

Exactly.I finished farcry 2 in about 20 hour and warhead took me about 4 but i never bothered to play FC2 again.I already finished warhead 7 times.far cry will last you 4x as long, but warhead is 10 times the fun in the few hours it is

the driving is just one of the many, many things wrong with the game, im not going to bother going into all the other problems with it because theyve been all been exhaustively discussed to death on this forum already.
glad you liked it, for me it was a huge disappointment. guess i must be uncreative
Far Cry 2 is Assassin's Creed with cars and guns. Get Crysis Warhead.parasitesingleThat's bad because? Also that's not correct at all.

Assassin's Creed = huge environment + small number of repetitive tasks + swords
Far Cry 2 = huge environment + small number of repetitive tasks + cars + guns
Both games misunderstand the fundamentally important element of open-world games, namely diversity. The developers spent much, much more time creating the worlds than they did refining the gameplay that would take place within those worlds, as though they felt emergent gameplay was naturally occurring in an open world.
It isn't.
Both games are basically giant sandboxes with no toys in them.

The only real problems i had with Far Cry 2 were the checkpoints, which while a bit irritating were not a game killer, and the story holes between the beggining/ends of all the acts. the missions were not that repetative, you never have to go to the same place and do the same thing twice. the enemy jeeps roaming the roads were kind of irritating later on, but nothing game breaking.
lots of topics ask opinions between two games, one of which is FC2, and everyone always says the game is bad, and either give no reasons or just say that it is repetative. i'm aware its flawed, but its defenitley not as bad as its reputation says it is. all games have some flaws, but for some reason the flaws in far cry 2 seem to get noticed far more, but imo are no more serious or noticable than in most other games. I always try to promote the game to newcomers, i'm not going to argue that warhead is a better game, its just way to short. those 6 hours are 6 damned fine hours of action gaming, but they are over all to quickly.
if the question was between crysis and Far Cry 2, then that would be no competition, but i personally got much, much more out of far cry 2 than i did out of warhead.
