at that res it will run smoothly over 30FPS all very high 2aa, at 1680x1050 crysis will run about 25-28 FPS with a 5770. a 5770 can handle 1280x1024 all very high 2AA in crysis.

You might be able to find two 5750s for $250 and crossfire them. Performance should be comparible to the 5850 and occasionaly beat the 5870, but you may run in to occasional crossfire issues. The 5750 is probably just an underclocked 5770 GPU with 80 stream processors and 4 texture units disabled. Overclocked, the 5750 should be able to catch the 5770. Some people are not fans of SLI or Crossfire, but if you go this rout with the 5770 you will end up with 2 gigabytes of memory, twice the GPU power, and just as many streaming processors as a 5850 (but keep in mind the extra power is dependant on efficient drivers).

Just a thought. Here's a review of the 5750 Crossfire.

Mind if I ask why? I'm looking in to this solution, and it seems most of the problems with crossfire are a thing of the past.

instead of paying for 2 of the same cards, why not pay for one better card? in the future the crossfired cards will be weak for modern games and you will have spent alot of money for them. thats my understanding

By the time the crossfired 5750 cards are weak, the 5850 will be weak as well and even though you can then crossfire the 5850, much better tech will be out so you should be able to find another budget solution that will put you back near the top. If your motherboard is capable, you can also crossfire a 5850 with two 5750s if you really need to.

If I am not wrong...
HD5770 > GTX260
HD5830 > GTX275
HD5850 > GTX285

For resolution of 1280x1024, I guess the HD5770 will run almost any game at max setting (Also Dependable on your other hardwares)

You can run crysis at a very good fps with 2xaa above 30 as long as you turn down the shadows one notch and the blur down 2. The game wont look any different (at least not to me). and run it at the games native res not anything higher.

That's fine. It's just something I'm thinking about when I build my new PC and wanted to hear all the pros and cons.
