Crytek VS Monolith?

Who makes better FPS games? Crytek or Monolith?

I wondered when you were going to make the "vs" thread for today :).

Crytek, at least they have graphics. Monolith has AI the rest sucks imo.

Anyway, I guess I like Crytek a little more, but it's close.

Quality: tie.

Quantity: unquestionably Monolith, but the company is way older, so it's hardly fair.

Diversity: unquestionably Monolith, and even though Crytek has only made two (or three) games, they are practically identical.

Technology: although Monolith is responsible for some amazing tech, this absolutely has to go to Crytek.

I guess overall, Monolith wins it, but only because the company is older and because - at least so far - Monolith has never made two games alike, sequels notwithstanding. Provided Monolith doesn't get tied down with the Condemned and F.E.A.R IPs, and keeps op their excellent level of diversity, and pending future info on Crytek's upcoming games, Monolith wins.

But it is a close race.

i'll have to go with monolith. crytek's only made two games, and i didn't like far cry all that much. crysis was great, but i like nolf 2 better (and possibly nolf and f.e.a.r. as well), so crytek has a long way to go to catch up with monolith in my favorite devs list.

there was a topic thread similar to this which asked for top 5 devs, and Monolith was my number 3 spot and Crytek didnt even make the list.

but man, Crytek wins here for me, why ? I absolutely have loved games like No One Lives Forever 1&2, Aliens vs. Predator 2, and Tron 2.0 .. but I have had no love for F.E.A.R and no interest what so ever in Condemned. What I'm really waiting for is Monolith to come back on the Radar with me, give me something I can really get into.

you see Crytek is more relevant to me, here, now .. providing visceral experiences now , Monolith was, then, times past.

I prefer the games like Crysis and Far Cry over games like NOLF and AvP.

Yep, understood completely ;) For me, they may come out on top, but again it wouldn't be such a simple conclusion (i.e. making the difficult choice now even worse).
