I guess if you look at the numbers more people play CS 1.6 but that is the crowd that has been playing longer... I think it's easier to do better initially in CS:S if you wanna get back into it
I think source is more fun to play because it has far more complex environments which allows for more strategy and emphasis on movement as well as aim and reflexes.
From someone that plays both games i would choose 1.6 over source anyday.
The community is so much more relaxedbut you can get serious if you want. 1.6 requires more skill as well which makes a a more enjoyable game! davidwood15
The community is relaxed in 1.6? Not from my experiences. Almost every server I go to in 1.6 has mic spamming people with no lives saying "GG uninstall".
1.6 requires more skill, no doubt about it. But source is more user-friendly. If you can get past the humpback character models, newbie teammates and lack of boosting (not sure about this though, might have been updated to include it again) without having too much strain on getting your skills in check as quickly as possible...source is for you. If you'd rather play against more skilled people and are able to endure the relentless taunts...then 1.6 is definitely better.

QFT though not many of you know what CZ is, or realize how much better it is than all the other CS's. 1.6 being second place
Source = a shoddy version of CS with pretty graphics, nothing more. yes i own every counter strike. the only one i dont have is "counter strike neo" its a japanese version of CS, blah besides the point. CS source is crap. although zombie mod is okay...
