Counter-Strike Current 11,649 - Peak 52,538

Counter-Strike: Source 7,884 - Peak 37,688

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Current 7,578 - Peak 22,890

Even the casuals and noobs know CS:GO is horrid. Valve's attempt to pocket some money. Worked, but the game flopped hard. Glad I didn't spend a cent on this junk. It's embarassing that it even has "Counter-Strike" in the title.

The game should just be renamed Offensive, because it is.

+1 CS:GO is an absolutely stellar game. It easily has the best gun play of all the Counter-Strike games. Unfortunately Valve's split attention between the casual fanbase and competitive fanbase (as well as the console and PC fanbases) has caused for significant issues on Valve's behalf. Irregardless, CS:GO hasn't been out nearly as long as CS:S or 1.6 - you'd have to be an idiot to think it'd accumulate a consistent daily player-base as large as either of these very popular games. Also, consider this: 1.6 is a free game for Half-Life owners. CS:S came with HL2 up until Valve nixed the package deals (Bronze, Silver, and Gold). Even Bronze package came with CS:S. Both games got a "free ride", so to speak. I think it's safe to say a game is to to accumulate more players if said players didn't have to spend any money on the game.

Can you expand as to why the game is horrid, or is playerbase size your sole argument? Is Angry Birds the immaculate gaming sensation of our generation? Do you amuse yourself in the act of chronic regurgitation?

Lol, your argument is based solely on what three dudes said and community activity chart. How other than that it proves to be horrid or "offensive", huh? The game isn't as greedy attempt as the ones from EA and Activision. You can't seriously think that 11 euros for a new Valve game is something anyone would call greed. How do you function?

They said the same thing about Counter Strike Source when it came out, eventually though people started to get used to it and it got better as Valve patched it with the feedback they got from players. The same will happen to Global Offensive.

CS:Source never even reached the size of the CS 1.6 community, even to this day. Now Source and Go community is split in half and CS 1.6 is stronger than ever. Don't think Valve will ever understand what makes CS a good game. Every 6 years they split the community it into smaller and smaller portions until there's no tournament support left.

Why do people still play 1.6? It's very competitive and all that.. but it's so 1990s, clunky animations and gameplay, squared models... Unless all those ppl have pentium I and 128mb graphic cards, i don't see the point of playing it

Nostalgia and the lack of a ability to move on I guess? Some of them are also very hardcore, they scare me lol. I don't mind people who play old games because they are fun. Heck I'm playing the remake of Half Life and also regularly play Super Puzzle Fighter, but some CS 1.6 players take it too seriously.

Gamespot needs a vote system, if a member is a complete idiot and we vote his thread as "Bad" then eventually he is disallowed to create threads, if a thread is voting "Good" then the person gets a small amount of points which increase their level a little bit. Assuming of course it doesn't result in the website breaking.

I put forward this idea to the GS staff a few months ago, together with a like/dislike button for comments. What did they respond? They didn't want GS to become Facebook.... Sigh.

Then you should have replied with "-1"

Ok well maybe it shouldn't be "like" and "dislike" but maybe just a number to indicate how good a thread is, if it's a negative then the number is bright red as a warning to stay out and avoid the troll, sort of like the spoiler tags, you know it's there and then you get to decide if you want to look. A positive number could be bright green to indicate a "Good" thread.

That way it's not turning it into a social site but still provides indication of a good quality thread.

That's a stupid reasoning. Having at least a "like" system or whatever you want to call it makes good posts stand out and is helpful especially in forums like the hardware section. GameSpot forums are actually one of the worst ones out there both technically and with the ridiculous ToU that allows idiots to troll. Maybe you should hire your own tech team and start a new forum. Then you can choose who's allowed to share their opinions or not. Keep in mind, I don't agree with most of what you say either, but just because I don't agree that doesn't mean you're any more right or wrong than me. Keep an open mind. Ignorance is the intolerance of another's opinion, or the inability to accept facts at face value. Deal with it.

Its posters like the TC, and a few others, like one recently posting in this thread lol... As well as one who creates threads for ego stroking, are why I haven't been here in these forums lately.

The forums have gotten worse, mainly because of ^^ in my first sentence.

I will only scan for useful info. Lol which is becoming less, and less in ratio to the BS you have to suffle through.

Its probably because they should have done more advertising. Though I dont believe TF2 was a smash hit til after it released. I think. What IS the consensus on the game? I hear its just average.

I have long time CS players trying it out. They say it's similar to CS and CS Source, with a few different things. They also say the game is fine, just needs balancing and optimizing in some parts.

Regardless if this thread is troll thread or not, but I'm sick of source engine, literally. Can't look at it anymore.GazaAli

CS:GO sucks as much as CS:S and CZ did, the only good thing is the 5 v 5 matchmaking which suits CS very well.

CS is the only good one tbh, just wish Valve didn't leave it for dead because it's far better than the Source Engine games, which Source is a horrible engine with a poor netcode. The reason why CZ is so amazing is because it's based on the Quake 2 engine which those engines always were perfect for online games.

The netcode in Source (or GO) isn't bad at all. They aren't even fast-paced games, so it's not like having an uber netcode is necessary. Most servers have adjusted tick-rates to compensate for faster action anyways. When it comes down to it - you either shot the guy in the head, or you didn't. Not once have I felt cheated by the netcode in CS:S or CS:GO, perhaps it's your imagination?

Yeah if I didn't know any better I would think it was a whole new engine. All the new effects, better performance, and overall smoothness is great
