Ok I just tried playing CS:S and I got horrible lag on every server I went on. My buddy I was playing with said he was lagging to ever since he updated today. Idk if steam updated my game or not, but I lag on every server and it's always the same. It's definetly not a server side thing I can tell because I don't lag a little on one server and a lot on another. It's exactly like the same speed on every server. Anyone else have this problem?

Just asking because there have been a few threads around today where people are confusing low fps and lag. When you search on the server list is it giving you normal pings, or are they always high? Also, try changing the filter region to one close to where you live.

I only play on west coast servers (where I'm from) and the first server I went on was chronic elimination a server a play on daily. I've lagged on that server b4. So I switched I was still lagging. It was unbearable. I couldn't get any kills. I'm gonna try firing it up again.

I never use firewalls because of stuff like this. I don't know what I did, but it's fine now.

More like lucky to me. All you have to do is piss someone off in CSS then they get your IP then they scan your ports. Then Uh oh your screwed.

You never answered the question - what pings do you have to servers in your server browser?

in console, do Net_graph 1 and see what kind of Frames Per Second you are getting

If your Ping is over 200 /or your FPS is under 40fps, that would explain the lag

I have a ping around 20-60 all the time and fps is always 150+ I said it stopped lagging anyways.

What are you talking about? Your router blocks all incoming ports by default, so it doesn't really matter. The worst they can do is DDOS you.

Yeah they do, almost every router just blocks incoming connections, what cheapo ones might not do, is allow them when even told to open the port. I mean it's not a complex algorithim, it's just:

incoming connection on port 27015 -- ignore passively or block.
