Alrite I know I know... like omg orange box is like da best evaarrr!!! With that in mind... I must say, over the past month of getting back to cs 1.6 and a little cz, it's safe to say that I'm a full on junkie. I love mulitplayer games more than anything, and im sure cs:s will be no different. Alrite so.... Steam is running a deal this weekend... 40 bucks for orange box. It's a tempting deal... problem is, I haven't played through the first half life, and don't want to at this time. With that in mind, I'd get TF2 for online play.... and then portal singleplayer... which looks really good... but im not in the single player, puzzle solving mood. Keep in mind I can get one for my coming birthday on the 25th.... so for right now...in my present situation.... what would u purchase CS:S or Orange Box? thanks!

Well if you're really not into the SP then I would tell you to go all out for CS:S.

The only logical choice is the orange box since it's 5 games in 1

Er, if you want an online experience get CS:S and just Team Fortress 2. Together they should be around the same as The Orange Box itself.

Frankly from what you've said, it sounds like you already know what you want.

Orange Box :-

Pro's- 5 games in one package

Offer on steam, so cheaper than before

Awesome multiplayer game, TF2 available which from what you've said you want to play a MP game

Cons

1 game out of 5 you want to play so paying for the games you dont want to play or dont intend to play kinda silly

Might not like TF2 thus 0/5 games you want to play....waste of 40 bucks

Okay now just buying CS:S

Pros -

Multiplayer game-what you want

Cheaper than Orange box as it is just one game thats been out for quite a long time hence cheaper

Don't get other games you dont want to play

Cons -

One game and one game only, whilst orange box has 5

If you get the fancies for a SPlayer game, kinda out of luck since CS:S is only MP

Ive told you both sides, so now upto u :)

Well, the real solution is to save up $60 so you can get both. But if you must choose, definitely get The Orange Box for $40. You would be foolish to miss out on 5 of Valve's best games.

Id go with CS:Source. There are more gametypes to play than just the standard maps.. There are surf maps, gun game and others.

Orange Box, unless you played CS1.6, then CSS will be too hard to break into. TF2 is fun even if you are sucking and Portal is fun, and the Half Life 2 series is good for when you want to play them. That said, CSS, is only like, what, 20 bucks?
