Okay, I got Counter-Strike: Source and I'm completely new to the game. I know I'll have to go through some sort of ritual hazing lol. But anyway, are there any clans / servers that are good to play with if you're a noob? Ones I should avoid? Basically I'm asking if you have advice on servers I can play on to get better without my teammates screaming bloody murder cause I suck =P

Who aren't jackasses? Play a different game :o CSS has the worst community imagineable. But there are actually a bunch of noob-friendly servers if you just do a full server refresh, you'll see it in the name. I see them all the time. If you're looking for generally friendly servers, best bet is to just keep switching servers every map or so until you find a good clan-run server that has nice members or something like that. I find I really have to do a lot of searching to find a server full of decent people.

Play anywhere you want to. The biggest noobs will call the most elite players noobs anyway so it doesn't matter. The word is over used and you shouldn't have to defend yourself. New players have to be new and that's just the way it is. I played CS:S for a while until I found a server I liked. I think it ended up being a hard server filled with really skilled players. My expectations changed while I played. I started out just wanting to injure someone. Then I wanted to be able to kill another players, until I got to a point that I frequently went on killing sprees of 5 players or more. (In a strange twist of fate, the server was shut down, my internet connection changed and I started to suck. A weird kind of sucking. The kind of sucking where I constantly get head shots on other players, their heads are smeared with blood, but they take no damage. I finally quit because I couldn't make it stop.)

The moral of the story is you should get better the longer you play, and it's better to gain skills playing against skilled players rather than unskilled. Those noob rooms are probably populated by long time players anyway. Don't take crap from them and don't start calling other players noobs because that's how we all start.

Hint: You dont HAVE to talk:) just dont press the chat button and just play the game:) who cares what the other players say and if you do something that doesnt appeal to they other players: well **** them:) its not like they can do anything about it and even if you get kicked, there are around 30000 other servers around^^

This isn't as helpful of a question as you might think. Ping plays an enormous role in the quality of your CS:S experience and as such you need to find servers that are near your location or that have a strong enough net speed that their ping is sufficiently low for you. Your best bet is to find a clan server with a low ping that has a consistent number of players all day long.

actually the server's tickrate is one of the most important things... my ping is alway 60... its ok... but when you get good you wont mind really your ping i just mind what the server tickrate is...if its really low i will shoot with the AK-47 only on bullet at a time..and you give way more damage if the tickrate is high i will shoot bursts of 3-4 bullets at a time...when you get that you will be way better than most players... there are other ways of killing but thats my favorite.

you should try playing on the University Of Teesside servers as they are usually populated 24/7 and have very good player in it. I don't have the IP address for it at the mo but i'll post it as soon as I get it.
