The gameplay is fantastic and a definite step up from other shooters.
The bugs are still there. The ones I encountered were hits not registering and my control layout randomly going back to default (very frustrating when you have an AZERTY keyboard)
Performance is great for me. I have a C2Duo and a HD4870 and I play everything on high at 1680x1050.
I heard you have to lead your targets in RO2. Sounds like bad netcode to me, last time I did that was in Halo:Combat evolved . Throw in a ballastics system and I heard its very hard to kill people. Lag compensation is not ideal but its far superior to leading your aim due to the lack of it.
Performance is terrible for a lot of people, myself included. I have most of the settings turned down, and I only play on SOME larger servers... depending on the server or the map, the game can get very laggy with 64 people. Aside from that, audio cuts out sometimes during a map change and I have to restart the game, and I occasionally get stuck in the map when going prone.
Gameplay itself is amazing. I'm completely addicted to this game... there's nothing else like it, and the solid map design makes for some REALLY intense battles. One of the main things that kept me away from playing RO1 that much was the abundance of tank maps and large open fields. Playing as any type of infantry was just painful.
Overall, the bugs and performance issues are only slightly hampering my experience, because I'm still having a blast and it's the main game I go to right now.
Also thought I'd mention that I'm hearing a lot of issues of laggy servers and people unable to shoot moving targets. I haven't had that much of a problem finding servers that I ping under 100 to *IN GAME*. I know that some servers will show a low ping and when you get in its 200 or so. I just avoid those servers. And I haven't had too much of an issue hitting moving targets using my Mosin-Nagant. I think as well, some people don't realize that you may actually hit the target, but hitting them on the side, it is likely that it will be a killshot. I've noticed myself trying to peg moving targets, thought I had missed, and then getting kill assists a few minutes later.
I'd wait. I'm a veteran RO1 player and I regret spending so much money on the game. It's definitely a solid game, but it's just in a bad state right now and I find myself getting frustrated playing it. I keep getting gameplay hampering bugs such as the double front iron sights, gun not shooting with first shot (this one gets me killed a lot), and the net code seems to be off. Also the entire stat/progression system is entirely jacked up to the point of no return (I was honor level 7 and randomly got upgraded to 22, I have 1600% accuracy with some guns, I have way to many kills/deaths etc.). All in all in a couple of months I'm sure the game will be awesome, but as it is now I personally find it more frustrating than fun as I always feel I'm battling bugs. I'd advise waiting for things to get fixed and the price to drop.Croag821
So much money on it? You coulda got it for $28 at GMG, the game is amazing. Yea theres a few bugs, but nothing major. In 2 months this will be the multiplayer game to play. There will be free dlc and patches for a long time.

Don't get me wrong, I find it very hard to hit anybody that's not running in a straight line away or towards me, but it shouldn't be a walk in the park to hit a moving target. I find myself more on the receiving end of this, running to the battlefield and getting rifled a couple hundred metres away.
What's broken is achievements and stats, and some minor gameplay bugs (the only one I've noticed is getting stuck on the map's geometry/actually falling into the map and dying). As for stability, I think other people have it worse off than myself. I'm running on a 3 year old computer with fairly mid-range hardware on high and no AA and have experienced no crashes to desktop or BSODs like other people. I'm still on XP, however.

Well sorry I guess I'm not rich, I consider a $30 game investment quite a bit of money.
Like I said I think its a solid game, but saying thiers just a few bugs and it's nothing major is an understatement. Their are 100s of bugs, many of which where brought up in beta and never fixed, and some people can't even play because of crashes.
Like you said I'm sure in 2 months the game will be in a better condition and much more playable but why wouldn't the OP just wait till then and spend even less money on it?
I am personally waiting until there is a sale. I'm certain the game is great and all, but I'll wait until it's properly fixed before jumping in. And, BF3 is launching in five weeks anyways.

lol wut? there are more than a few.
Random crashes
Guns not shooting/reloading
Cover system is wacked out, half the time I will be in cover and go to use iron sights and he will aim into the wall
Performence is terrible (I have a 2 gig 6950 and an i5 2500k and can only play on medium after the patch)
Menus and navigation in game is atrocious, clicking respawn never felt so horrible. How can menus be this buggy really?
I can't stress enough about the menus, clicking to choose a gun or where to respawn is a hassle.
Russians almost always lose, their guns a are aweful, you need to have a great team in order to beat the axis.
Hit boxes are off, I have unloaded with a PPSH on somone and hit them with the whole clip according to the blood that spatted out only to get killed by a sing bolt bullet.
Guns are like laser, its like playing BF Bad Company. There is barely any bullet drop. What happened to the days of RO1 where bullets would just narrowly miss. Now everything is a hit. Its rediculous.
Climbing ladders on Grain Elevator is aweful.
You have two seconds to get back in bounds if you are out then boom you die. You will never make it back...you always die. And you dont know where the boundaries are until its to late. Boundaries also change depending on what is being captured and you could die two seconds later where it was safe a second ago.
Civer/Bandage/Use ARE THE SAME DAMN BUTTON!!!! THIS IS PC HOW CAN YOU HAVE THREE FUNCTIONS THE SAME DAMN BUTTON!!!!!!
Some of the decisions these guys made i s mind boggling really. With this being said, the game is kind of fun until you get frustrated by one of th MANY bugs......have fun playing this mess of a release.

The BF3 is odd considering your statement is waiting till bugs are fixed. BF3 will have many bugs as well and you will need to wait on that game as well. Bugs will happen, just nature of things. It took 6 years for counterstrike source to finally have the bulk of bugs removed for example. Wait for one game, in 5 weeks don't wait for other since one has bugs? Odd..

I didnt see any particular bugs in the BF3 alpha. I dont think there will be bugs any where near the level of RO2 release in BF3. I think the most likely problem will be some of the weapon balance like it was in BFBC2.[QUOTE="The_Capitalist"]

I've watched over a six hours of alpha footage back during the alpha's release. It looked pretty good to me. Sure, there might be some balancing issues, but if the game plays well and doesn't crash, I'll be satisfied enough. As for RO2, I bet it'll be prime by next year. By then, all of the bugs would have been fixed, lots of free content will be out, and the game will be just $30 or less.

If you look it up there was a big thread with alot of people having the same problem. The gameplay is fantastic, so is the music and level design.
There are still alot of bugs but they ahve had 3 patches already and more on the way (Tripwire also supports there games with content and updates for years after release).
Its a ton of fun with friends though, worth the price to get it now if you enjoy these types of games. But if you want to wait a month or two for more of the bugs to be fixed then wait a bit might even get it on sale.
Does take a little while to learn everything (maps, guns, controls) for some people but once you get the hang of things its really alot of fun.

What? Sucks to be you I have a 570 and a 2500k at 4.1 and am running at max.
Red Orchestra 2 is VERY playable at this stage. It definetly has less issues than both BC2 and Black Ops did at their respective releases. History has shown that Tripwire Interactive is very good at keeping long term support as well!
Some people can't even start the game and then even more get awful performance. I love RO2 and I am one of the lucky ones that can actually play this game with decent performance.Red Orchestra 2 is VERY playable at this stage. The game runs on older systems better because the game doesnt utilize what the newer hardware has very well.
Also the game might not look amazing to some but look at the amount of detail everywhere.
Uh disregard my post about poor performance. I turned on the one thread frame lag options and my FPS went up to 98 and no longer bounces around like a maniac......weird.millerlight89I was about to say M... No way you should be bouncing around with such a FPS unless something else was the issue. From my understanding though, that option puts lag on your CPU to I guess not cause it to go unsync with the gpu's etc etc.

I was getting like 45-85 FPS constantly going from the highest to the lowest in that range. Now it hovers around 85-98 on 32 man servers. 64 man servers are still a pain and I'm not too sure the maps are too good for that many anyways.
