I bought Grand Theft Auto 4 and it performed pretty poorly. Crysis is playable but I feel like I'm not getting the full potential of the game at medium settings.

My budget is about 100$.

I'd recommend you save a little more and get a 5750.

TC: I had an 8600 just like you and I bought a 9800GT to upgrade. I'd go with that considering your budget.

not so.. really its on par with an hd 4830 and if you remove it from the dx11 context it preforms roughly the same in dx 9 and dx10

it on par with HD4850 OC probabely even to HD4870 OC once Overclocked at 870/1430 : stock is 700/1150 by OC It you gain much higher Bandwidth so it 21% overclock For core : 20% for memory

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/HIS/Radeon_HD_5750_iCooler_IV/33.html
it possible to do it with any HD5750 with referenced cooler but unreferenced cooler is quieter / more cold / more expensive
it Faster then 9800GTX+ With the OC for sure : While without OC there about same performances and those who ignore that fact : then ignore also the fact of how Work HD5970 it stock 4.8Gbs but reach 6Gb/S by A simple oc

But which result in ur Video card going from 48DBA to 68DBA by turn fan at full power Yes it loud but id expect a unreferenced 5970 cooler to fix this problems probably Artic Cooling would make one by march hopefully ;) they did it with 4870x2 for those who OC there 4870x2 which is anyway risked and not lot of headroom

Decibels follow a logarithmic function, so it isn't "3x the dB" of stock settings.

If that were true, the fan would be louder than an automatic rifle :P

nearly.if i remember in someting science said since 5DB is almost twice the input in audio : from 20 to 30 DBA there a huge gap example if at stock ur at 23DBA at Full you can expect 60DB that more then 3x the DB : example my 4870x2 stock is around 30DB : if i put it full spin 67.9DB and i can tell you it sound like a JET.. now it Quiet no noise..! at 20% : put it at 50% you get around 55DBA but at 100% it barely endurable

How Ever Aftermarket cooler Barely reach higher then 45DB at 100% Of the Fan running

I was assuming that you were saying "3x" literally, as in, 3x 50db = 150dB. Sorry about that :P

And just letting you know, 3dB doubles the sound amplitude.

that what i tough i tough it was 5DB but 3DB is the double that make sense now.. bah if only Wikipedia Was more accurate you can't always Rely on it :( and i keep think of many thing :P i should have remember it :D but anyway the DB is working this way i think if i'm correct from 4870x2 20% to 50% you get 6x the DBA without joking.. and from 20% to 100% : about 8x more noise i tryed it once to see how loud it was and it so loud  perfect for torture ur roomate
