I've been looking at cyberpowerPC the past couple of weeks and have been very impressed with thier prices and selection of parts to choose from. And i have heard mostly good things about their service. However, whenever I read a bad review about cyberpower its a freaking horror story, there are no just displeased people with cyberpower, they are all very very angry and pissed at them. Is cyberpower a reliable place to get a computer from? If not, why so?

Yeah sure I guess, still much rather build my own, but you could do worse, you could have an Alienware or a "gaming" Mac.

No time like the present. Building a pc is pretty easy these days and there are amazing guides to assist on your build, and many thousands of geeks out there itching to help you build a pc that can do what you want within your budget. On top of that, there's the awesomeness of playing games on a rig you built yourself. If you still want to buy a PC then yeah, cyberpower is okay.

I get a heart attack everytime I first turn on a new build. But when they turn on it's a +1 to the ego. Hope you try it soon.

I'll answer the question WITHOUT telling you to build your own. Cyberpower seems to be a crapshoot. I've heard some fairly good things about their computers and, I've heard some fairly bad things...What you want to do is get the parts and build it yoursel... Damn it!!! I almost made it.

Every company gets bad reviews, its just if the reviews are overwhelmigly negative, or there is a common trend in them when you should be wary. I was going to buy from pcspecialist.co.uk a few months ago, but in the end I just built my own rig as although their prices are very good, its still cheaper to build your own. If you're going to get a PC from Cyberpower, please tell me how your experiences were with them, I may recommend them in the future.

Its a good feeling, I've just had mine completely apart, fitted a new M/B, CPU and more Ram.... Hit the power button, boots up, power down, then boots up! +1 to Ego

Very good, but very overpriced. I've also heard that it's either a hit or miss. You might get unlucky. They also tie up the cables if you get the "proffessional wiring" like they expect you to never upgrade.Have to cut the tie to move power supply cables around. The water cooling I have works pretty well. I'm going to tell you to build your own. It saves a lot of money.

ibuypower/cyberpowerpc - you get what you pay for. They will cheap out on some parts, not necessarily use bad parts, just low end. Something most enthusiast PC builders wouldn't use.

My first true gaming rig was from ibuypower and I had no problems with it. Right out of the box and it came on with no problem. It was good starting point, the CPU was decent at the time (not the best, but decent) and the GPUs were mid ranged, but with two of them they worked better then most of the high end GPUs out.

I will say that the couple of people I spoke to about technical questions, they were dumb. That pretty much sums it up.

About 1.5 years later I upgraded the MB, CPU, GPU, PSU, HDD and RAM - only thing I kept was the case (which wasn't that great to begin with but it saved a few extra bucks to re-use it). I've been building my PCs since and building them for family members and a few ex co-workers. So, if you don't want to go all out to build one now, getting a PC you can tinker with in a year or two for maybe upgrading or troubleshooting isn't a bad way to go.

If I had to rate ibuypower/cyberpowerpc it would be like so; 1 bad thru 5 great:

  • Quality of products used - 3.5 (low-end MB and HDD, also used basic RAM. EVGA and PNY were the GPU manufacturers, both cards still work today)
  • Customer service - 4 (did good to getting back to me and answered calls quick)
  • Tech knowledge over the phone - 1 (seriously, my 3 year might know more then the guys I spoke with)
  • Packing - 2 (overall packing when the PC showed up was a tad light and it irked me that NO SIGNATURE was required for an expensive piece of equipment just to be left at my front door)
  • PC stability - 5 (no problems, started up right out of the box)
  • Overall - 3

I feel I had a good experience with ibuypower, not great, but good enough to give them another try would I have needed to buy another PC from them if I didn't build my own.

Hi all, Just a heads up. I bought a moderately priced gaming system from Cyberpowerpc in December 2011. It arrived looking fine and ran great for a week, and then the power supply blew up. Loud pop, ozone smell, lots of heat coming out of the case. I wasn't completely sure that all the other components had survived, so I tried to contact Cyberpowerpc for an RMA. Hah! It took me 3 days of waiting an hour on hold each time to get through to someone who could give me an RMA. I finally got smart and called the instant they opened and got through to someone. Regarding the refund, since I had gotten 4 free games, they weren't going to take those back and were deducting $20 per game from the refund. Makes sense to not take them back, but $20 per game? oof. Minus $80. Also, they were not going to refund the first shipping to me ($75) or my shipping it back to them ($75). So, I was out $230 for the dead system. Thank goodness I didn't get the free laser engraving on the case, because then the system is not refundable at all. I took the bull by the horns and bought a bronze plus power supply from newegg. com. Put it in yesterday and am writing this review on the now working Cyberpowerpc system. I took a major risk, in case other components had been destroyed by the power supply blowing up. In short, other reviews mention how terrible their XtremeGear power supplies are. If you want to take the risk and order from them, do yourself a favor and upgrade to a better power supply. Otherwise, you're dealing with difficult to reach customer service and a company that will nickle and dime you to death about freebies that they include. Good luck!
