My pc keep restarting/crashing! It takes a memory dump or something and i can't see the problem why, it resarts really fast. I'll try and look next time.

This happens about every 2 days.

I'm running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

intel core i7

nvidia gts 450 gpu

This was custom built from cyberpower. It works very well excpet this one problem.

I have some antivirus, zonealarm free, avg 2011 free, advanced systemcare PRO.

Saw another thread about a cyberpower pc problem, I really don't want to return mine, spent big bucks on it.

Any help would be appreciated, I'm not a computer genius.

Just google "intel core i7 drivers" and "nvidia drivers" then follow the instructions from the official Intel and Nvidia websites.

Could be a power supply issue. They may have shoved in a cheap power supply in your system. What is the make and model of the PSU?

I take it by "memory dump" you mean the PC is BSODing. In that case you need to get the STOP code to figure out what's wrong. To get the computer to stop resetting the second it BSODs: 1. Open up the start menu, right click on "computer", and click "properties" 2. Click "Advanced system settings" 3. Click "settings" under the section "Start-up and Recovery" 4. Uncheck the box next to "automatically restart" I think the STOP code may also be listed in the event viewer under one of the critical errors, so you can check that and hopefully you can come back with the error code without having to wait for another BSOD (to get to it just type "event viewer" in the start menu search bar). BSODs have innumerable causes, it's impossible to know what your problem is without the STOP code. That said, your PSU is a cheap-o off-brand PSU so it wouldn't surprise me if this were related to a power issue.

Looked in the event viewer and the source is kernel-power

its crashed 12 times since oct 2nd(the day i set it up) so its been a problem from the start.

I don't really see how it's a power issue, the pc is brand new and the whole thing is always under 80 F

I really hope this doesn't fry the gpu.

my dad fried 2 gpu's from an old power supply that couldnt handle his new gpus

Kernal-power just means the PC shut down improperly, which is something you already knew. The real information is contained in the BSOD STOP code. It looks something like 0x0000003C. Get that, write it down, type it into google, and begin searching.

Shouldn't there be a setting in the BIOS to adjust to keep the PC from automatically restarting upon BSOD?

Could be a faulty power supply, email Cyberpowers tech support and say whats wrong, and seeing as it's probably still in warranty (if it isn't. theres something hilariously wrong with cyberpower) they'll pick it up and fix it for free.

Yes, it's not a top brand PSU but it's "supposed" power is way overkill for that PC, even if it only can supply half of what is suppose to do (350w) it would work without a problem. If it really is the PSU it's because it's broken and not due to it's not adeqvate because it should work with pleany of headroom. Theres tons of reasons why the PSU is a part you just don't go cheap on but i don't think that is the problem. What i don't understand is why it's not being a RMA? If YoshiYogurt had it since 2'nd oct and it was malfunction from the star it should be obvious to return it for a new one or a repair. ?!

UPDATE: updated nvidia graphics card and set up my 3d glasses.(They are awesome!). Still hasn't bsod today. It probably won't do it again. The power supply is working... I can see it spinning and glowing and everything ALL THE TIME... i really don't think that's the problem. As soon as i get this stop code everything should be resolved. There's no way I'm returning this either... already set up everything. works perfectly except this

Just because the power supply is on doesn't mean it's working fine. Fluctuations in power output or a sudden spike in power demand from your hardware could result in insufficient power to keep the PC running, at which point it either restarts or BSODs. Also, is your CPU by any chance overclocked? If it is I'd be willing to bet good money that you've got an unstable overclock going and that it's the source of your problems.

I don't really know anything about overclocking at all, where can you check if it's overclocked? I'll have to do some research on overclocking.

Obviously it's impossible to tell what the problem is. However seeing as the pc is new and the crashes appear to be random my best guess is a faulty stick of ram or two. It's not uncommon to get a pack of new ram with a fault on it. I would suggest you download memtest and install it onto a bootable USB stick. Then boot from it and see if you get any errors. If u do then try each stick of ram by itself to determine which stick/s are bad. Ram generally comes with a lifetime warranty so shouldnt be a problem replacing them. It's possible it's the power supply or gpu but test the memory first.

One thing I always do with my DIY PCs after being shipped or transported is to make sure everything is seated snugly. You never know when something was dislodged during transit.

I'm not sure if doing the same with a pre-built PC would void the warranty. But my experiences with incidences of faulty hardware soon after purchase are very low if not non-existent so far.

If the TC can't open up his PC without voiding the warranty, then contacting tech support would be the best option.

YoshiYogurt I do apologize for the issues you're having with your Cyberpower system. It does sound possible of a power irregularity. It maybe a possible memory voltage issue. Allow myself to help and address this issue directly. I have messaged you my contact information so we can work on this immediately.

I don't think i need to get contacted or anything. I found the codes under bug parameter in the event viewer. Did some searching on google and it turns out zonealarm drivers may be conflicting with windows 7 drivers. If it bsod's i will uninstall zonealarm.

Did you say that you have Zonealarm and AVG? Uninstall both (and any other security suites) with removal tools and install Microsoft Security Essentials. I would also uninstall any Iobit software. Then defrag your PC with MyDefrag (use the monthly defrag option) and finally download HWInfo32 and post your temps (use the sensor tab).

ok well, the temps from hwinfo 32 are..

cpu the minimum temp is like 77F-86F all the cores are different temps apparantly.

Motherboard is 87F

Whoa it says the gpu is currently 107 F/42C and I'm just only on gamespot! Is this normal temp for graphics cards?... This might be the problem.

Haven't used the other programs yet.

Just like i said, the temps is always meashured in full load, because thoose temperatures is what will Bsod you PC and NOT the idle temps. Furmark and prime95, DL thoose it'll take a few minutes, run the stress tests it'll take a few minutes, it's alot better than go guessing that you dont have a heating issue. :?

I let furmark run and after 5 minutes the temperature went to 74C and didn't go any higher and i just closed it at like 12minutes. I'll do prime95 a day i can let it sit for 24 hours. prime95 should tell me if there's a hardware problem or not.

Have you tested the RAM yet via booting into memtest? Prime95 won't necessarily highlight every possible hardware error.

Just start the program :o it will tell you what components it does stress the most.

It stresses the RAM but it won't detect problems like memtest does. For instance my previous computer had a lot of errors with the RAM which caused regular crashes. Prime95 never had any problems running, but when I ran memtest it detected the errors.

It's simple, you need to test your memory via memtest, not prime95.
