I found this STEAM Account for sale on EBAY (there are quite a few of them and from different sellers).

IS THIS SAFE TO BUY?

It looks like it is, and it comes with Half-life 2, espisode 1, and other games. The seller has a 100% rating, but not a ton of points, so I am not sure. I DONT WANT TO GET ROBBED!!!!!!!!! What do you think? Should I make a bid? It's a lot cheaper than making buying everything new from valve.

You're not allowed to sell/buy steam accounts, so they can disable the account. Don't do it.

Really? What are they Nazi's? This is why I hate Fat Gabe. I've sold CD/DVD games before - why not digital games, too? What if you buy HL:2 on STEAM and your computer explodes and your mommy needs an operation so you can't buy a new one? Then you have a STEAM game that you can never use; you should be allowed to sell it.

I'd avoid it, you don't know what problems will follow when you buy it over ebay. Just purchase HL2, or orange box soon and get your own steam account for yourself.

well it really depends on how much you trust the seller.

Selling the game is against Valves TOS which means you're SOL if something's wrong with it (along w/ most PC games). I don't know if ebay would do anything about it either. This is why you don't buy used pc games unless it's somebody you personally know.

That is one of the negative impacts of downloadable games. On one hand you don't need a CD but on the other you cannot sell the game if you don't want it. Buying an account doesn't sound like a wise idea.

Yes, but that's why you buy from people with clean records. I mean, if you're buying from someone with a 99% approval rating and 150 sales, you can be pretty confident that you won't be ripped off.

Wait, I don't understand your post - sorry - do you mean seller's can get ripped off? How? So long as they get paid... what do you mean?

why would you want to buy Steam account from EBay - you can create one for free from Steam - and better to buy games from stores and not from the Internet
