It comes out next Tuesday and I haven't heard any talk lately. Granted a lot of AAA titles have started to come out so it may just be under everones radar. In fact it's probably why it's launching at $30 so it can pick up more sales.... Anyways I'm definitely getting it, who's with me? :)

I am, I've been following this game for some time now.

It looks like it plays like Freespace2 even the UI is almost the same, so if it plays anything like the Freespace games just with Updated Graphics its a First day buy for me.

Seeing as there is almost 0 chance of a Freespace 3, I'm hoping this does good.

I've been looking for a good new space sim since freelancer. So Yea I was looking forward to this game, that is till I found out about Tarr Chronicles. A space sim game made by these same developers last year that completely bombed. Now I'm not so sure.

Here is gamespot's review of it.

I would be, but I can't buy it from Gamersgate since it's a blocked website for me.

Hmm...after checking into this game, I found out about Evochron Renegades. How is Evochron? If it turns out that Evochron is decent, I may just have to drop $55 and get both.

Is Evochron a new release or an older game? I've never heard of it

As for Dark Horizon, I've been keeping an eye on it for a while. Just read a "review" here:

http://www.aeropause.com/2008/09/dark-horizon-review/

"The gameplay in Dark Horizon is a throw back to Freelancer, with a little bit of Freespace gameplay mechanics thrown in. "

and

"However with all of that said, the game is just a tad bit broken. Enemy units can fly through the huge stations and other ships, but the player cannot. This puts the player at a disadvantage. Also sometimes the game won't load the right savestate, and puts you into an earlier part of the game. However the most annoying part is the random crashing during a heated firefight, when things are getting at their highest fun factor. I can't complain though, even with all of these problems I still played and finished the game. It's worth that much time. I invested a whole weekend and a week day for this game, it's just right for someone wanting to zip around and blow stuff up in space. This is a buy when it arrives on the 23rd!"

Pretty favorable review, although there are some bugs in the release. I'm definately picking this up, I've got a real itch for a Space Sime..I've never used Gamersgate though, I hear it works just like STEAM, meaning, once you buy the games, they're yours for life under your account, able to be downloaded and installed an unlimited times, unless the Publisher puts in an install restriction, which in that case I've been told Gamersgate will reset your installs....sounds great actually

Yeah, Evochron is an older release (about a year ago now). I found it because it was on the front page for that Gamersgate site (under simulation). Looks and sounds interesting.

Hmm.....a bug that lets enemy ships fly through each other and stations is pretty major, hope thats going to be addressed in the first patch. The crashes would be annoying too, but that may just be specific hardware there's no way to tell for sure. Either way I'm still buying it once it becomes available.... If anything else just to support the space sim genre.
