[QUOTE="nutcrackr"]What about Demonses's Souls?mitu123Sony published that...
...So you're telling me there's a chance!

I wouldn't mind trying it. I hope it has some humour in it though :( biggest_loser
Humour? The game has almost no narrative, so if you're not joking, then prepare to be disappointed. Perhaps if you like quirky voice acting you'll be amused.

I prefer 'mysterious'.

For those who have played it, when you die does it require you to replay large chunks of the game to get back to the place where you died? Because I hate that kind of difficulty. I would not get the game until very cheap if this was the case.
Not really, it has checkpoints that are also savepoints. For those who have played it, when you die does it require you to replay large chunks of the game to get back to the place where you died? Because I hate that kind of difficulty. I would not get the game until very cheap if this was the case.

The game has frequent "bonfire" checkpoints. The difficulty was always blown out of proportion. Parts of the latter half of the game are tough, but by that point you can warp to previous bonfires, and easily get back to the central hubs to upgrade and whatnot. Replaying large sections or entire levels just doesn't happen, you're constantly unlocking shortcuts to new areas once an old area is finished. Don't let the haters who claim unfair difficulty talk you out of an awesome experience. For those who have played it, when you die does it require you to replay large chunks of the game to get back to the place where you died? I didn't really care for it compared to Demon's Souls, but I'd give the game another chance if it made its way to PC. Both games run and look like crap on console. It would be nice to play them in high res with a solid framerate.

Cheers, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't like GTA IV where if you die you gotta replay a bunch of stuff. This game sounds like it would be right up my alley.

If you can find the bonfires it's not so bad if you can't it can be very grading on your nerves.By the way is it confirmed that it is not coming? Or are the rumours just not confirmed?

Well if replaying a mission in GTA IV for failing grates your nerves, then it kind of is like that but worse. In both cases it really depends on where you died, but GTA IV is SIGNIFICANTLY easier then Dark Souls with more short cutting options.
Though Dark Souls does offer a bunch of shortcuts and secret bonfires as well, it is old school in the "level restart" type system it uses.

I'd agree about the difficulty, although I found that it actually got much easier later in the game.
At the start you'll die a lot because you won't have the combat timing down, or you'll have terrible stats/equipment and die in a couple of hits, or you won't be able to heal, or you won't know where to go. Once you get into the flow of things, or grind a bit, you're pretty much untouchable for the most part.
Of the game's major bosses...I think Searth was the only one that killed me, and that was without using a guide for any of them. Oh, and that cheap giant tree fight. And I only barely died to the two palace guards on my first attempt....fine, a couple of them got me, but I completely breezed through a lot of the major bosses - including the final boss - so it's not like the game was crazy-hard. And if I had used a guide, it would have been even easier. So don't let that turn people off.
Anyway, the game is worth playing. Don't expect a good story, or much roleplaying, or much freedom, but it's a very well designed little action RPG.
This game could offer very interesting gameplay. They should just make sure that it is well optimized for the pc (key binding, quicksaving, manual saves, graphics/sound options, resolution, ...) It could sell a lot if the developpers play their cards right.Sentinel112Quicksaving and manual saves? I figure you haven't played a * Souls game. That would pretty much ruin their intended design.

Yeah offering quick saving and manual saves would completely ruin the risk/reward system they have going on with the bonfires, so I 100% doubt they will offer that.
I don't seem them offering mods or voice chat either, and I'm sure some PC gamers will make a big fuss out of it, but as long as they offer proper keybindings, let you use a controller, and have it well optimized for performance then hopefully only the super whiny ones will complain. I guess that's the best we can hope for.
I hope it comes with quicksaving too, along with a modern warfare style multiplayer component.
I loved this game on the Xbox, it coming out on the pc is fantastic news. The only gripe I had when I played it first was the performance issues & frame rate drop in certain areas. If they fleshed out the multiplayer and allowed co-op with people you know this would be my game of the year 2 years running.
Dark Souls with quicksaving? No bro. Just no. :PI hope it comes with quicksaving too, along with a modern warfare style multiplayer component.
