Darkest of Days is a time-travel FPS. The premise is that certain individuals try to alter the history by killing key figures, and it's up to you and your team to save them.

There are 5 time slices. You'll fight in the two World Wars, in the American Civil War, in the city of Pompeii during the eruption and at Little Big Horn (you know, alongside General Custer). You'll use both futuristic and time-specific weapons.

It was revealed in 2007, it's the first project of the devs, it's published by a very small publisher, looks pretty good and it's one of Nvidia's PhysX pet-projects.

What do you think? I guess it'll be a solid, Painkiller-ish shooter.

It will be launched on September 8th.

This game looks pretty cool. It has a lot of potential, and so far it seems like it will meet that potential.

Not bad, but not even close to AAA

PhysX part looks decent, but nothing more - comparison video

Okay, just finished playing the demo. It's pretty mediocre. I mean, it's not bad, but it's not great. The enemy AI is absolutely terrible. It seems more like they programmed the enemies and allies to fight in large battles and then decided to throw a player in there at the last minute, because the enemies barely ever shoot at you. Using an assault rifle in the Civil War is pretty fun though.

Is it just a Civil War level in the demo then?

Looks interesting. Does this game use the same engine as Oblivion? looks similar especially in the second to last screenshot.

There are a few levels in it. First of all you take part in General Custer's Last Stand, then you go to the future and learn how to use weapons (which is stupid, they put the tutorial AFTER a gameplay level...) Then you go to the Civil war and then... Well then I stopped playing because the game bored me. There may be another level after that. If there is, I would assume it's WWI or WWII, 'cause one of the characters mentioned that during the future bit.

It's fairly fun, and a good concept, but it feels very low budget and has a bunch of issues.

The Civil War level was the last level in the demo. They just show a trailer after the level, and that is it.

Here's another detailed review:

I'm glad it's well received.

You save 10% if you buy it now on steam. It's 30 euro for me.
