i am planing to upgrade to a q6600 soon, right now i am using ddr1, but i want to future proof so should i get a ddr3 mobo?

Because current CPU's FSB too low. I think there won't be a big advantage if iuse DDR3. Or you can oc a DDR 800 to higher.

DDR3 1600 already is faster than DDR2. If he has the option to upgrade later, why not? Plus he might be able to drop a Yorkdale in there who knows.

DDR3 these days is slower than DDR2 cause of its high latencys. And whit your procesor i wouldnt suggest going for that CPU.

i would buy the gigabyte board with both kinds and use ddr2 untilpenryn and ddr3 are more affordable

stick with ddr2, ddr3 isn't that great at the moment. plus there is price to consider as well.

Iagree. HecanuseDDR2 now and DDR3 next year without changing the mobo

I would get ddr2 becasue at the moment ddr 3 is so expensive and wont give much performance gain. You could get a motherboard that supports ddr2 and ddr3. Gigabyte do them.
