Hi need some advice. My Mobo is a MSI-7series motherboard from around 2009 I think. I know its a socket 775 intel chipset and a Q6600 with some Corsair DDR2, 667mhz ram.

I plan on doing a rebuild but because of the work I do, I need a lot of Ram. So as a stop-gap solution should I shell out for this..http://www.ebuyer.com/370069-corsair-16gb-ddr3-1333mhz-memory-cmv16gx3m2a1333c9

or will this DDR3 1333mhz ram not work with my socket 775 MSI board?

Cant get the full model name of motherboard until i get home tonight.

What is the model name of your motherboard? Some of the later 775 boards were able to use either DDR2 or DDR3 (this was done by having 2 DDR2 slots and 2 DDR3 slots), but if all your slots are DDR2, you will not be able to use DDR3.

It defo only has 2 ram slots. I'll post the full model number when i get home, was tempted to order 16 gig of DDR3 while I'm sat here at work.

If it's got two ram slots with DDR2 DIMMs in both of them, then you won't be able to use DDR3 memory.
