Both of them are fairly cheap atm with the survey voucher on GMG (Dead island: 4.something and kingdoms of amalur 8.04).

Which one is the better game/time investment in your eyes? Money is not an object for the matter at hand.

If money is not a consideration, I'd just get both. I spent a good bit of time playing Dead Island and loved it.. haven't played much of Kingdoms of Amalur but it's really good so far, and I've heard many good things about it.

Both are pretty dissapointing, but good nonetheless.

yeah but time moves on, and that's the determining factor. I don't whether know whether or not i have will have time to play both.

Definitely Dead Island. KoA was pretty disappointing, didn't make it through the game for how poor the story was. You won't likely have that issue with Dead Island.

I forced myself to keep playing Amalur but after about 10-15 hours in I couldn't take it anymore, the only ok part of the game was combat which even that got so freaking boring after few hours.

Dead Island is the best zombie game released even if a little rough around the edges, KoA isn't worth a single cent, because it's not worth your time, terrible game with mediocre combat (yep, the only good thing about the game and I actually don't like even that).

Never played Amalur but as far as Dead Island goes it has perhaps the worst story I've experienced from a game in years and when it first released it was super buggy. However the gameplay, enivironment, and combat is amazing. If hacking away at zombies that are a lot tougher than your usual undead adversary is what you're into then I'd go with Dead Island inspite of it's shortcomings.
